Moody Blues - Gorgeous Blue Shades

4 min read

It’s been a wee bit wet this last week, but let’s not dwell on that – it’s August, and somewhere the sun is high in the sky and someone is diving into the glorious deep blue sea!

August makes me think of hot summer holidays, and in turn that got me thinking about blue skies and seas – and my favourite eyeshadow colour ever – BLUE!

I also love a blue nail, I’ve tried a blue lip, and at some point I had blue in my hair. So, I’ve rounded up some perfectly blue bits and bobs to share here.

Let’s start with nails. Barry M Nail Polish is great – there are LOADS of finishes, and I was sent all of these brilliant blue/sea shades.Finishes include Classic, Gel, Scented, Coconut Infusion, Under the Sea, Molten Metal, and more, and prices start from just £3.99. Find Barry M at Superdrug.

Illamasqua make bright and bold eyeshadows. This lovely deep blue is Sadist (£11.90) and if you want to change the look, add a sweep of Barry M’s Holographic Eyeshadow Topper (£4.99) in Asteroid. This stuff is great, adding a super sparkle.

Bobbi Brown’s Long-Wear Sparkle Stick in Sapphire Blue (£23) is so easy to use, and adds a beautiful slick of shimmery blue. Bobbi’s Long-Wear Liquid Liner in Baltic Blue Sparkle (£24.50) is such a great alternative to black – add a pop of gorgeous colour to your eyes.

When was the last time you used blue mascara? I bet it was a while ago. Me too, but I was pleasantly surprised by Benefit’s They’re Real Mascara in blue (£21.50). I popped it on top of my black and it added a beautiful colour to my lashes – and you can really see it!

Barry M is the brand for glitter and I love a bit of glitter and shimmer – and blue on holiday skin will look gorgeous. Glitter Rush Body Glitter (£4.59) in Blue Moon and Aquamarine is brilliant – and a little goes a LONG way.

Barry M’s Pick ‘n’ Glitz Glitter Pot (£4.99) has all sorts of fab shapes in it, perfect for adorning your face and body- use Glitter Fix Gel to adhere it to your skin – and I particularly love the brand’s Liquid Glitter Sparkle Drops (£6.99). This shade, Feels, has a lovely iridescent shine – and a little goes a long way again – this stuff is amazing!

A long time ago I had blue highlights in my hair. There are plenty of salons on 5pm Spa and Beauty that will give you the blues, but if you just want to add a wee temporary hint of colour, then try Schwarzkopf’s Live Fresh Blue hair chalk. Exclusive to Primark, this is so easy to use – just clip it around your hair, and slide it down for colour. Seal the colour with hairspray and it washes out after one shampoo.

Guerlain’s gorgeous Eyeshadow Palette in Apres L’Ondee (£44.50) is a lovely set of blue shades to create a perfect smoky eye.

Also, unbelievably, Guerlain has a blue lipstick! It’s Rouge G (£24.50) comes in shade 333 – a deep, wearable blue! Find Guerlain in Debenhams. It’s no surprise that Illamasqua has a blue lippy though – it’s a matte blue called Disciple (£20).

What’s your blue of choice?
