MAC launch Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick

2 min read

MAC is a makeup artist brand, so they have always been a go-to brand for bases. As a beauty writer, I flit between brands – I love Bobbi Brown, but one of the bases I buy regularly is the Shiseido Synchro Skin Glow. It gives me some much-needed luminosity.

I also love a foundation stick, so the new MAC Studio Fox Soft Matte Foundation Stick piqued my interest when the press releases arrived recently. I was sent one to try, for the purposes of review, and despite it being an NW15 and not my usual NW13 in MAC bases, because it’s summer, and even though I haven’t left the country I have a bit of a ‘tan’ – that is I’m a shade less pale than normal, NW15 seems to match reasonably well.

This new launch is the latest addition to the Studio Fix line. I love the Studio Fix Fluid Foundation, but this stick is more matte, and well, in handy stick form. it has no SPF in it, which is a difference to the fluid, and although MAC says it is easy to blend, I did find it quite thick on application – you won’t need a lot. I blended it on with a brush, and it gave a really nice matte finish, that feels very lightweight despite the thickness of it when you first meet stick to skin.

I like the fact that you can use it as a foundation, a concealer, even a contour in darker shades. It’s a neat size, perfect for your pocket, or your bag, and perfect for travel. It comes in all the shades across the MAC spectrum.

MAC Studio Fix Soft Matte Foundation Stick, £27, available from September 5, at maccosmetics.co.uk and at all M·A·C locations
