Friday Face Mask: Erborian Matte & Glow Shot Masks

2 min read

Face Masks had that moment where everyone was doing them, all the time. The more instagrammable the better it seemed. How they looked on seemed to be more important than what they did (if anything) for a while there.

I think we reached ‘peak masking’, and something else came along to draw the influencers in, but I still love a good face mask, and I do like a sheet mask most of all – they are easy to use, simple to apply, and they give you that little bit of salon relaxation in your home whenever you want it. Erborian is a Franco-Korean brand, and if you don’t know it, you should have a look. It combines the very best knowledge, tradition and new innovation from two of the beauty industry’s biggest players – France and Korea.

They have just launched two new sheet masks with a difference  – both of them are essentially primers. Meet the Matte Shot Mask and the Glow Shot Mask. In 2018, Erborian launched Matte Crème, the perfect primer to blur, hold makeup in place and control excess sebum. This year it introduces its sheet mask sister – Matte Shot Mask. The smooth cellulose fiber structure helps to diffuse the formula whilst the cocktail of mattifying and moisturising actives create an instant ultra-matte effect. To control excess sebum, Erborian has incorporated White Water-Lily from Korea (or Nymphaea alba), a moisturising ingredient which helps to control excess sebum and mattify the skin, while maintaining its moisture levels.

The mask contains silica powder, so it leaves skin not just matte, but ultra-matte. This natural powder is ideal for giving the skin a matte, velvety feel, whilst visibly reducing pores to result in a flawless complexion. It also helps to blur the appearance of lines and imperfections, while giving the formula its non-oily texture and ultra-mattifying finish. Immediately, the complexion looks rested, mattified and smoother. Excess sebum and pores appearance are visibly decreased. Skin seems more hydrated, more even and enhanced. Use this mask as a primer.

The brand’s Glow Crème has become a cult classic since launching in 2015, with its light-reflecting pigments boosting radiance and creating a satin skin finish under foundation. Erborian has transformed this pearlescent texture into a sheet mask – the Glow Shot Mask –  to provide a shot of hydration and the perfect primer in one. Enriched with Licorice extract, known for its illuminating properties and hyaluronic acid to moisturise the skin, after use, the skin looks more luminous, plumped and enhanced with a pearly, rosy glow.
