Winter Lip care

3 min read

Brrr! It’s cold out there. The winter weather plays havoc with our skin, and our lips. Hands up who gets chapped lips this time of year? That’ll be down to the heating, then the cold, etc, etc, and it is a horrible, uncomfortable condition.

So, you need to prevent it, and look after them with just a simple routine – use a lip scrub and a bit of lip balm. Try a lip mask, even. And don’t OD on the lip balm – sometimes constantly using it doesn’t help the lips heal.

Barry M launches two new Lip Scrubs (£4.99, Superdrug from January 3, Boots January 17) in the new year, in Mango and Peppermint flavours. Use them twice daily for super soft lips.

Pre-lip paint preparation is essential for soft, even and perfectly primed lips. Lightly rub the Barry M Lib Scrub over your lips in circular motions for a gentle exfoliation before rinsing off. For a super soft pout, use in the morning and evenings for a little TLC! – Adam Burrell, Makeup Artist, Barry M

Oh K! have the cutest Cherry Gel Lip Mask (£6, ASOS) available to give your lips a hydrating and moisturising treat. Simply remove the mask from the tray, apply the lip patch onto clean lips, leave on for 10 to 20 minutes, then remove and massage any residue into the lips. It smells delicious!

Finally, a totally sweet lip treat from omnipresent Reese’s. Isn’t it everywhere? I remember going to the US in the late 1990s and bringing back the then unknown peanut butter cups – now you can’t move for them!

Not that peanut butter fans will complain! The Reese’s 3-Piece Tin set (£8, TopShop) has two lip balms and a mirror. Okay, it’s maybe not going to be the best ever lip balm – but really, there’s not a lot to lip balm – but it is cute!
