Estee Lauder mark 25 years of their Breast Cancer Campaign
Evelyn H Lauder was the visionary behind the Estee Lauder Companies Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign – now the Breast Cancer Campaign – 25 years ago this year.
In 1992 pink ribbons were handed out at the brands’ beauty counter around the world, and a year later, the Breast Cancer Research Foundation (BCRF) was launched – a non-profit organisation to generate funding solely dedicated to breast cancer research.
Evelyn Lauder passed away in 2011, and this year the company honour her legacy and pioneering vision on the 25th anniversary.
This week, Winfield House, the residence of the Ambassador of the United States of America to the Court of St. James’s lit up pink to honour the 25th Anniversary of The Estée Lauder Companies UK’s Breast Cancer Campaign.
Robert Wood Johnson, Ambassador of the United States of America to the United Kingdom and his wife, Suzanne, hosted a reception at Winfield to mark the occasion, along with Evelyn’s son, William P. Lauder, Executive Chairman of The Estée Lauder Companies Inc. and Elizabeth Hurley, Global Ambassador for The Breast Cancer Campaign.
Throughout my travels as Global Ambassador for The Estée Lauder Companies’ Breast Cancer Campaign, I’ve seen the hope that advancing breast cancer research is bringing. I’ve seen first-hand the strength of those fighting breast cancer and the strength of friends and family who are supporting them in their fight, and I truly believe that together we can help turn the corner and bring breast cancer to an end – Liz Hurley
You can donate this year by buying one of three Estee Lauder BCC products. The Pink Ribbon Knockout Eyes Collection (£45, 20% donated to BCRF) features an eight piece Pure Color Envy Eyeshadow Palette, a full-size Knockout Eye Mascara, eye shadow brush and a mini Double Wear Eye Pencil. It all comes in a cute makeup bag.
The Limited Edition Advanced Night Repair Synchronized Recovery Complex II 50ml with Pink Ribbon Keychain (£72, 20% donation to BCRF). This is Estee Lauder’s number one recovery serum, and a brilliant product. It comes in a limited edition pink bottle with a pink ribbon keychain to support the Breast Cancer Campaign.
There is also a Commemorative 25th Anniversary Pink Ribbon Pin (£10, 20% donated to BCRF), inspired by Evelyn Lauder’s pink ribbon and engraved with the message ‘celebrating 25 years’. It’s accented with two stones, one BCA pink stone and one blue stone to represent that for men in the United States, the risk of getting break cancer is one in 1,000.
