Bespoke Skincare with Alpha-H Vitamin Profiling

3 min read

There is a lot of chat about vitamins and bespoke skincare in the beauty world right now. The Ordinary – an affordable, targeted beauty brand – has caught all the headlines of the last six months or so – more on it here next week.

And Alpha-H  – one of my favourites – has created its own bespoke skincare regime, with the Vitamin Profiling kit. Alpha-H has had  Vitamin serums  for a while – I tried their Vitamin B with Copper Tripeptide Serum last year – but this is a kit of four vitamins that you can mix and match according to your own skincare needs.

What's Your Vitamin Profile

The kit comes with a profiling wheel, which spins to reveal which vitamins suit your skin needs for AM and PM. It’s clever, and easy to use. There are four vitamin serums in the set, each addressing a different skincare concern – so you choose from A, B, C, and E.

The point here is that you choose the vitamin serum you need at the time you need it – so, if your skin is particularly dry, thanks to a late night, or a long flight, then you choose B. If your skin is lacking firmness through ageing, menopause, or other medications, then you might need a shot of Vitamin C serum in the morning, and A in the evening.

Each vitamin serum has its own benefits:

Vitamin A Serum: Anti-Ageing – this is the powerhouse of serums, targeting lots of skin concerns, including wrinkles, loss of elasticity, coarsened skin, and acne or acne scarring.

Vitamin B Serum: Build Moisture – this is perfect for dehydrated skin, or skin that is stressed, blotchy, pigmented, or sagging.

Vitamin C Serum: Clarity Enhancing – Vitamin C is a beauty buzzword right now, so you should be familar with this one, for radiance, and luminosity. It wakens up dull, lifeless, and uneven skin, and is great for sun damaged skin, and skin that is collagen-poor.

Vitamin E Serum: Emergency Repair – this one is useful for dry skin, and mature skin. Skin that needs a bit of TLC – perhaps you have issues with reddening, or flaking, or your skin is aggravated by something. This serum will soothe and repair.

The idea is that once you have self-prescribed your preferred serum, you apply 3-4 drops to clean, dry skin, using upward, circular motions over the face, neck and decolletage. Then follow with your preferred daytime SPF or your nighttime moisturiser.

Be conscious of the fact that you should not blend these vitamins. Use them individually for best results. Vitamin A should only be used at night, and not at all if you are pregnant.

It is a great idea for skincare regime, and this kit is a great price at £49.99. The bottles are 25ml each. A full size bottle of Alpha-H Vitamin B for example is £58.50
