NEW Clarins HydraQuench Tinted Moisturiser
All the BB, CC, and DD creams sending you a bit Zzzzz?! Fear not, Clarins are bringing it back to basics with their new HydraQuench Tinted Moisturizer SPF15. Actually, it’s not that basic a product, but you get my drift!
This new addition to the HydraQuench range – my absolute favourite skincare – is brilliant. There are a few issues – more on those later – but generally, I love this product already. It gives moisturisation, gorgeous lightweight coverage, and reasonable SPF protection. What’s not to love?
It contains hyaluronic acid for hydration, along with katafray bark extract, which works to boost the skin’s own hydrating mechanisms, by stimulating the production of filaggrin, a protein of cells in the epidermis which helps to reinforce the skin’s barrier function.
The katafray bark, by the way, is produced exclusively for Clarins, and is part of the brand’s initiative to support fair trade and sustainable development. The Katafray tree is found in the forests of Madagascar, and a fixed amount of what Clarins spends on this ingredient benefits local communities in the production region.
So, that’s the moisturiser part, now the tint. This is where I do have a bit of an issue. There just aren’t enought colours available at Clarins across their bases.
Their CC cream is lovely, but they took ages to add a very light shade, which I have yet to try, and the light shade is really not very light at all!
The shade I’ve trialled here is 02 Sand, and is the second lightest, but it’s really not that light either. The finish itself is great – iridescent pearls capture and magnify the light by diffusing subtle coppery-pink reflections on the surface of the skin, and deeper down, sorbier bud revives the complexion’s radiance.
I am going to try this in shade 01 Porcelain to see how that is with my skintone. What do you think of tinted moisturisers? And can you find your perfect base shade?
