Just Like Sunday with Jo Malone & Charlotte Stockdale

Sundays. What are they for, and what do they mean to you? A relaxing end to the weekend? A day of recovery? Cramming in last minute activities before a new week? Or preparation for the week ahead?

Jo Malone London asked Style Editor, Charlotte Stockdale, what Sunday meant to her, and asked her to express it in four different candles, of course! This is a lovely little mini collection from Jo Malone. The scents are gorgeous, and very different.

Lavender & Lovage is meant to make you think of crisp, white sheets, The comfort of lavender linen…clean and relaxing. It’s then laced with the aniseed twist of garden lovage, and deepened with herbaceous rosemary and thyme. It’s a very calming, and aromatic candle.

Then there’s Green Tomato Leaf, my favourite. That amazing smell you get when you walk into a greenhouse of tomatoes. Earthy, leafy and full of sunshine. Crisp with stem-green galbanum, and lively with artemesia, and fruity with cassis – all  resting on a cushion of moss. This is a tangy and evocative candle, and I love it!

Sweet Almond & Macaroon is not for me, but this may be your comforting confection in a candle! Sweet almond, creamy coconut, rich with cherries and softened by vanilla. This candle is warm and cocooning.

Finally, there is Incense & Embers, with curls of smoky incense, brightened with silver fir and white pepper. It also has napa leather, on a base of elegant vetiver and golden amber. This is a contemplative and relaxing candle.
