Clinique's All About Shadow Smoky Eye

2 min read

I blogged a few weeks back about the lovely new All About Shadow collection from Clinique, with their new eyeshadows and eyeshadow primer. I tried them out recently, creating a smoky eye with the Jenna’s Essentials Quad. Jenna Mennard is Clinique’s Global Colour Arist.

I’m not a massive eyeshadow user – I’m more of a lipstick and liner kinda gal, and if I do wear shadow, it’s usually green or blue and bright and bold. But, recalling all of my old beauty-school training, and using the handy how-to, makeup by numbers guide inside the palette, I think I created a nice look!

Even if you are a complete novice, if you look at the numbered guide inside the eyeshadow quad lid, you really can’t go wrong. Jenna’s Essentials quad has four shades in it  – 1 and 3 have shimmer, and are the lighter shades for using up to the browbone and on the lid, 2 is the essential chocolate brown, for creating the smoky effect with, 4 being a deep charcoal, for using along the lash lines.

The little sponge applicators are marked 1,2 and 3,4 as well, but to work this eye properly, I would recommend getting at least two good eyeshadow brushes, and one decent blending brush. Then, have a go!

And use the primer – it does feel a bit liquid going on, but it dries down and then the shadows adhere to it, and it really does keep them on, crease-free for a long time.
