Clarins launch Neck Cream
Clarins have added a few new products to their Extra-Firming range, and the Neck Anti-Wrinkle Rejuvenating Cream caught my eye. It is true that no matter how many face lifts you may have, the neck is a pretty good guide to someone’s age. The skin there slackens more quickly, loses its elasticity, and, well, sags, for want of a better word!
“Physiologically the neck has very few sebaceous glands, which means that it has a less protective hydrolipidic film, it has a thinner epidermis, dermis and hypodermis and means it’s more prone to lines and loss of firmness,” explains Nathalie Issachar, Clarins Head of Research & Development. “Added to that, the neck is in constant movement, has to carry the weight of the head, is often rubbed by our clothes or is exposed without protection to the elements. The only natural support given to your bust is from the fan of skin that extends from your chin, down your neck, out across your décolleté and to your nipples.”
So, using a cream specifically created to deal with the skin’s ageing in the neck area isn’t a bad idea. Okay, it is adding yet another product to my beauty regime (four in the morning, four in the evening now!), but it’s all about getting into that routine, and then you don’t even know you are doing it – until you notice the results.
This lovely cream contains extract of sunflower, to help with firming, green algae extract encourages the synthesis of hyaluronic acid to help plump the skin and moisturise, whilst organic oat sugars form a tightening film on the skin surface. Marshmallow powder composed of line-filling micropearls, optically reduces lines around the neck to give an immediate, lifted smooth and velvety appearance.
And it’s all about how you apply it, as well. “Apply morning and evening. Massage lightly from the chin towards the décolleté,” says Marie Mckeever, Clarins Head of Treatment Development. “To encourage action and absorption, exfoliate the neck once a week to eliminate dead skin cells on the surface and help stimulate cell renewal.”
