Bobbi Brown goes pink and red for Valentine's Day

Pink or red? Pink and red, according to makeup guru Bobbi Brown, whose Pink & Red Collection is on counters now and perfect for Valentine’s Day makeup!

“With this collection, I took an unconventional approach to the season’s traditional colour palette,” says Bobbi. “The Pink & Red Collection isn’t about matching your lips, cheeks and nails. It’s about deliberately mismatching. I love pink and red worn together. It’s a very modern mix – and perfect for Valentine’s Day.”

It might not seem that out there to some of us, but this is the woman who had a pretty much all-neutral palette to her makeup line until a few years ago. I was thrilled when she launched her first red lipsticks a few years ago, and this new collection is colourful and fun. There are four products in it.

The Limited Edition Sheer Color Cheek Tint (£18) which is a lovely, translucent lightweight formula that glides on to you skin – apply to the apples of the cheeks for a just-been-kissed look. It comes in two shades, Sheer Pink and Sheer Cherry. The Creamy Matte Lip Color (£18) is New and Limited Edition, and the colours are bold and beautiful – and the formula is excellent; it’s a very moisturising, highly pigmented, but matte lipstick. And it lasts for a long time. it comes in Heart – a bright red, and Hot, a vivid pink.

If you fancy a lighter lip look, then there’s the New and Limited Edition Sheer Lip Gloss (£17), a very super sheer and wearable translucent formula that comes in two lovely shades of, of course, pink and red – Cherry and Pretty in Pink. And finally, two shades of Nail Polish (£11) – Pink Valentine and Valentine Red. I love the red shade, but found the pink a bit odd on application.
