Beauty Bargain of the Week - Oscar-ready hair (with your grocery shop!)

3 min read

We can all spend a fortune on beauty products, but we don’t need to. Every week, I’m going to bring you my ‘Beauty Bargain of the Week‘  – a product I’ve used, and would recommend, and that, on most occasions, costs less than a fiver! What’s not to like!

Yep, you can get Oscar-ready hairdo’s whilst at the supermarket, thanks to these products, and this advice from Celebrity Hairdresser, Leo Bancroft, whose styling range can be found at Tesco.

Did you love Jessica Chastain’s Old-Hollywood glamour curls and waves? Or was Anne Hathaway’s growing-out crop your favourite? Maybe Kristen Stewart’s messy, full, loose do floated your boat? Or are you a fan of straight, healthy hair, like Jennifer Aniston? (We’d like her to mix it up a bit, if we’re being truthful!).

Whatever style was your favourite, here’s how to achieve it, and the electric tools, and styling products you will need  – all available at Tesco.

Jessica Oscar Hair

For really defined curls, like Best Actress Nominee, Jessican Chastain,  smooth a small amount of ‘Glamorously Curly’ Control and Shine Cream (£4) over the sections of hair that you want to curl, curl these sections using a curling styler and set with my ‘Secretly Styled’ Firm Hold Hairspray (£4),” says Leo Bancroft. “My tip for beautiful curls is ‘hands off!!’ The more you touch your curls, the frizzier they will be come!” For this look, the Remington CI9532 Pearl Pro Curl curling tong, £27.93, is perfect.

Jennifer Oscar hair

When straightening your hair, make sure you use a heat protection spray like my ‘Totally Protected’ Heat Defence Spray (£4), to keep the hair from overheating and giving you frazzled ends!” says Leo. “You can finish of with Gloriously Glossy Shine Spray (£4) for super healthy looking locks like Jennifer Aniston’s.  My big tip for unruly hair is to straighten in section, it may take a little longer but the overall result is worth it.” For sleek, straight locks, try the Remington S8590 Keratin Therapy Straightener, £89.50.

Oscar Hair Kristen

To recreate Kristen Stewart’s voluminous look, you need to get a lot of lift at the root,” explains Leo.  “Apply my Perfectly Volumised Volume Boost Mousse (£4) to towel tried hair, concentrating on the roots, blow dry as normal using a big round brush and finish off with a wide barreled styler. For a sexy tousled texture, you should flip your hair forward and spray with my Simply Tousled Beach Wave Spray (£4) and scrunch the hair to give salty-yet soft waves. Gently blow dry and scrunch to define your waves and or leave to dry naturally.  My top tip- keep hair looking matte with this salty spray, it’s going to be big this season!” For big waves, try the BaByliss Volume Waves 2289U, £20.

Oscar Hair Anne

With a short style like Anne’s you need to keep frizz at a minimum and this can easily be achieved using my Instantly Sleek Smoothing Serum (£4),” says Leo. “Add a pea sized amount to the palm of your hand and rub together, smooth over clean, damp hair  – avoiding the roots –  and style as usual, you will notice, a much smoother, shinier and sleek style.” For smoothing shorter hair, try the Vidal Sassoon Perfectly Smooth Ceramic Straightener, £17.97

All these hair styling products can be found online at www.tesco.com, and in some stores.
