Hair Oil - it's the new hairspray!

2 min read

Gone are the days in the salon when your stylist surveys her work and asks ‘would you like some hairspray‘ (Okay, this probably stopped happening a few decades ago, but go with me on this one…!). These days they’re more likely to tell you they’re ‘popping a little hair oil in‘ at the end.

Hair Oil is big news in the hairdressing world. Hairdressers are obsessed by it, well, some I’ve spoken to anyway. I guess it’s one step on from hair serums, for taming frizz, adding shine, and at the same time helping your hair.

And now Ojon have created their own version – the Rare Blend Oil Total Hair Therapy. This is actually a blend of seven natural oils which will help repair severe damage, provide intense hydration, tame frizz, boost shine and protect against damage caused by heat styling and environmental exposure.

The seven oils are Ojon Oil, from the Ojon nut and key to all of Ojon’s products, Rouge Oleifera, from the fruit that surrounds the Ojon nut, Tahitian Monoi Oil, a well known ingredient for giving hair shine and protection, Marula Oil which has restorative qualities, Kalahari Melon Oil, great for hydration, Kukui Oil from Hawaii for conditioning, and Ximenia Oil, from South Africa for rich conditioning.

And as if that wasn’t enough, it smells wonderful thanks to an essential oil blend of creamy sweet Tonka Bean, Cocoa Seed Butter and fresh, uplifting Bergamot. It’s a lovely oil, and having over-processed, dyed hair, I find hair oils are perfect for me. I still love a wee skoosh of hairspray now and then as well, right enough!

And, if you’re not familiar with the Ojon brand, then look out for it in Boots soon. Boots UK has joined up with Ojon and Bumble and bumble to create a ‘Premium Haircare’ category in stores. There will be a sort of mini-salon vibe in the Boots stores with a Bumble and bumble hairstylist on hand to give hair care and styling advice, with a styling chair there for the consultant to provide live styling at the Bb bar, as well as touch-screens, and a salon locator.

Ojon will launch six haircare rituals at Boots – damage reverse, dry recovery, volume advance, colour sustain, full detox and super sleek. There will also be dedicated Ojon hair advisors at the Ojon locations in the Boots stores.

The Premium Haircare sector will initially launch into 29 Boots stores between August and October, and it’s on boots.com from August 13.

Ojon Rare Blend Oil Total Hair Therapy, £29, available at QVC from September, and Harrods, John Lewis from October
