Urban Canvas from Bed Head

2 min read

Funky hair brand Bed Head has given some its best-sellers a face-lift with the help of some talented urban artists. The Urban Canvas Collection sees Small Talk, Hard Head, Masterpiece and After Party all sporting new looks thanks to the talented trio.

LA artist Jim Mahfood aka Food One, whose work includes the new Tank Girl graphic novel, put his talents to the Small Talk packaging. The 3-in-1 hair styler was given it’s own boost in the shape of monsters on the packaging. He also made over Hard Head hairspray, my favourite of them all.

Masterpiece, a shine spray, was given a new gloss by London-based Jarry Woollacott aka Rust One, who opted for blue and green and swirls. And Manchester based illustrator, Nicholas Saunders gave After Party, for frizz-prone friends, a bold green and neon pink look.

Bed Head Urban Canvas is out now with prices starting from £9.75 and available exclusively in professional salons. To find your closest salon go to www.bedhead.com

Here’s a little bit more about the artists and their work.

Jim Mahfood, aka Food One (Small Talk and Hard Head)
A respected authority in the fields of illustration, advertising, comic books, murals, fine art, animation and custom body-painting, Jim has collaborated on projects as diverse as reggae’s Ziggy Marley’s Marijuana Man project, to a custom car art for Nissan’s new Juke Artist series and that Tank Girl graphic novel.
Nicholas Saunders (After Party)
A screen printer and illustrator based in his hometown of Manchester, Nicholas is one to watch. He’s already worked with The Times, Macy’s, Nike and Warner Brothers, and has exhibited in London, San Francisco and Berlin.

Harry Wollacott, aka Rust One (Masterpiece)
