Discovering Argan Oil...

1 min read

A few weeks ago I was doing a writing job for a haircare brand. Their products contained Argan Oil, and my colleague and I had a bit of an ongoing joke about the ingredients – we were demented by writing about the contents of haircare products for a week, you understand!

But, we were actually both impressed by Argan Oil and are now experts on the subject!

Basically it’s brilliant for dry or sensitive skin, and is the Berber women’s beauty secret. It comes from the rare Argan tree, which is found on the Moroccan coast around Essaouira and Agadir.

It’s made form un-roasted argan kernels, and it’s used for massaging joints, for nail care and haircare.

Melvita offer a handbag sized roll-on Argan Oil which is unscented, and certified organic and fair trade. It’s £9, and it is a skin-saviour for this time of year.

Use it to target dry areas on the face and lips throughout the day. I’ve also used it on my hands. it’s not a greasy oil, and the roller ball applicator gives a stimulating massage sensation as well, which encourages lymphatic drainage and improves circulation.

You can buy Melvita products at the new Wholefoods store in Giffnock,  some John Lewis stores, and from melvita.co.uk
