Magnetic Nails!

2 min read

There has never been a more exciting time for nails – the beauty industry has gone manicure mad, and the latest in a long list of innovative nail products, following wraps, glitter, crackle coats and the like, is magnetized nail polish.

I’ve been trying out Boots 17’s version, and the concept is actually pretty simple. The polish is magnetized, so when you hover the magnet over it, the magnetic particles in the polish move about. That’s the science bit!

The effect is a swirly pattern, which is quite nice – just not as ‘wow’ as I wanted it to be. I’m now toying with the idea of trying to buy a small pen shaped magnet and see what fun I can have!

You can see the effect in purple, above, and the polish comes in three other colours – silver, blue and green. It’s £5.99 and available now at Boots.

It’s fairly easy to use, but you only apply ONE coat – then hover the magnet above the nail – there’s an indent on the lid that contains the magnet which allows you to rest it on your finger above the nail.

Just don’t do what I did and get the magnet in the polish – can you see in my picture where it touched?! Also, apply a top coat, as this is only one coat of polish and will chip quickly if you don’t.

There are other similar magnetized polishes out there and no doubt loads more to come. What do you think of it?
