Beauty Bargain of the Week - Berry Lips

1 min read

We can all spend a fortune on beauty products, but we don’t need to. Every week, I’m going to bring you my ‘Beauty Bargain of the Week‘  – a product I’ve used, and would recommend, and that, on most occasions, costs less than a fiver! What’s not to like!

If there’s one big beauty trend this autumn/winter, it’s bold berry lips. All shades, from bright bold berry red, to blackberry, plum and purple, lips are dark, dark and dark!

It’s not the easiest look to pull off, it doesn’t translate brilliantly from catwalk – as seen at Gucci and YSL – to reality, and it reminds me of the early 90s when ‘raisin’ was the favoured shade of the day (complemented by nude’ biscuit’ eyeshadow, but that’s another story!).

Berry lips can be harsh, so if you want to experiment, seek out value products first. Marks and Spencer have a great selection, and the quality is good.

Try the Perfection Perfect Moisture Lipstick in Blackberry (£6) which is a purple-based berry, and gives a good stain of colour. Or, if you like a bit of gloss, but don’t want that full-on berry look, have a try of Essential Colours Lip Gloss in Purple (£3.25). You can judge how much coverage you have by applying a little or a lot.

Berry colours are not forgiving of yellow-stained teeth and in some instances can make your teeth look more discoloured than they are. So, maybe time to have a look at some of the teeth whitening offers on 5pm before you buy in to this trend?!

Marks and Spencer makeup is available exclusively at stores nationwide and online at marksandspencer.com
