Stick in the Mud

Mud baths, mud packs, mud massage – now meet Mud makeup. Ah, we’re just teasing. There’s no actual mud involved –and MUD is actually an acronym for  Make Up Designory.

It’s a brilliant brand from the USA, now available in the UK. Hooray! MUD are renowned for their makeup schools in New York and Los Angeles and their graduates have gone on to work with Madonna, Pamela Anderson, Maria Carey, Cuba Gooding Jnr and Johnny Depp to name but a few Hollywood stars.

They do colour, but they are best-known for their bases, so I’ve been trying out their Cream Foundation Compact (£23.50) which comes in 16 shades – right across the whole skintone spectrum.

I used shade WB2 – it doesn’t look as light as it really is on the website picture. I am fair, but this is possibly even a shade too light for me. I applied it first with a makeup sponge, and it gave an incredibly even, smooth coverage. It’s a dream to apply. I did find it a little much, as I prefer a sheer look, but this product can do that as well!

Apply with the fingers, you get more control, and you can have a more sheer finish. Then, the best bit about it is you can build it up where you need it most, as concealer – no need for another product. It’s lovely to use – really light and smooth  and my blusher and eyeshadow went on top of it effortlessly.

So, if you want a movie star complexion, you could do worse than give MUD a go!
