Smashbox Petal Metal X Vlada Collection
This collection from Smashbox launched in July, and I first saw it back in early Spring. Rose Gold was EVERYWHERE back then, and I guess it’s still having a moment.
This 16 piece curated collection was co-created by Instagram star makeup artist, Vlada Haggerty, she of the ‘drip lip. Rose Gold is her signature colour. Smashbox call her Lip Editior-in-Chief – now that’s a title!
The beauty of this collection is that the shades don’t compete or create a dull, monochromatic effect. I haven’t seen all of this, but I have tried quite a lot of it, and I have to admit that I do love the Petal Metal Primer (£30). Is it worth £30? I don’t know. It has micro-fine rose pearls in it to create a warm glow, and the 4K, high-definition spheres blur imperfections. The hyaluronic acid and shea butter provide all-day moisture to keep you looking ‘lit from within’. Try it under a sheer-coverage foundation to let the glow peek through or as a highlighter over your makeup.
The Always On Petal Metal Liquid Lipstick (£19) is packed with jojoba, apricot and sunflower oils to deliver a light, metallic matte sheen. The precision tip is easy to define and fill your lips with. It comes in three shades Desert Rose (copper with a copper pearl), In Bloom (mauve with a mauve-silver pearl) and XO, Vlada (metallic rose gold).
The Be Legendary Liquid Metal (£19) is a liquid-gel formula is applied with a foolproof applicator to make lips appear plumper and fuller. The shades are Petal Metal (metallic rose gold), Rose Magic (metallic rust rose gold) and XO, Vlada (metallic bronze warm gold).
The Cover Shot: Petal Metal Eye Palette (£26) is a palette of rose gold shades for your eyes. Glide the formula on in one swipe. The matte shades add depth, while the shimmers create highlights and dimension. The best part, says Smashbox, is the lighter shades can be used as a highlighter to ensure your brows stand out in every selfie.
Use the Petal Metal Liquid Liner (£19) to create Vlada’s go-to cat eye in seconds with this long-wearing, water-resistant, smudge-proof liner. The formula glides on wet and sets to a satin shimmer finish in 60 seconds. Shake well and line your lids in control with the felt-tip precision applicator. Combine both shades to create a sophisticated, camera ready look. It comes in two shades, 24K Gold (metallic rose gold pearl) and Black Rose (black with rose gold pearl).
The Petal Metal Powder Highlighter (£30) is a gel-powder highlighter that works on all skin tones and easily layers to build a gorgeous glow. Lightly swirl your brush over the powder to activate the pigments and sweep over your cheekbones, brow bones, nose and Cupid’s bow. Pair it alongside the Petal Metal Primer for maximum glow. It comes in three shades, Rosemantic (soft rust with gold pearl), Gilded Rose (gold with pink/gold pearl), and Prismatic Pearl (iridescent rose gold).
The Petal Metal Shimmer Spray (£26) is an all-over, lightweight, illuminating spray which mists on multi-dimensional pearls, leaving skin hydrated and radiant with a dewy, rose-gold glow. I love it! Create stunning, buildable shimmer by wearing it alone or over your makeup. Just shake well and add a drop over your favorite matte lipstick, or your cheekbones for mega glow!
