Summer Hair

3 min read

I don’t know about you, but the summer is a great time to play about with your hair. I’ve just had my hair dyed bright orange – why not? (I’ve popped my insta pic at the bottom of the post).

Of course, summer is also a difficult time for our hair. If it’s coloured it will fade, we might have to wash it more often thanks to the heat (who knew that would become a thing in Scotland?! But don’t knock it!), it can dry out, and let’s not even think about the damage a holiday, and all that sand, sea and chlorine can do to our crowning glory.

The latest holiday haircare range to have dropped into my inbox is from Green People. The three vegan Quinoa and Artichoke products work to protect against the harmful effects of sun, salt and chlorine. And they have no synthetic fragrances, chemicals or colourants; just pure, hard-working natural, certified organic ingredients.

Made with 81% certified organic ingredients, the Green People Quinoa & Artichoke Shampoo (£14.95) is a blend of superfoods for the hair. Artichoke removes mineral deposits and acts as a protective shield to the hair shaft cuticles.Quinoa then coats the shaft for hair that looks thicker and fuller in an instant. Finally, soothing Marshmallow and Chamomile Extract work to soothe the scalp after sun exposure and rejuvenate dry hair.

Next up the Quinoa & Artichoke Conditioner (£14.95) for an intensely conditioning boost. Made with 91% certified organic ingredients, ideal for both coloured and virgin hair, and with added Pineapple Extract, packed with natural enzymes that remove dead skin cells, chlorine and other impurities.

Finally, Quinoa & Avocado Serum (£9.95), made with 96% certified organic ingredients.  This all-natural serum is a wonderful alternative to chemical-based styling products. Silicone free with no sticky residue, this serum can be used as a leave-in conditioner for a high shine finish. Antioxidant rich Avocado Oil works to deeply condition the hair, while shine-boosting Quinoa Protein prepares the hair for another day spent in on the beach, acting as protection against sun, salt and chlorine.

But before you head off on holiday, or even if you’re not, it’s time to summer-up that hair, and take advantage of one of the fab offers at 5pm this month.

We love this deep red at James Duns House  – and you can get an Intro to Colour deal, which includes a consultation, colour, and cut and blow dry, or blow dry and rituals, from £86. If you prefer Balayage, of highlights, there are offers from £106.

We also adore this icy blonde colour with waves from Domina Studio in Rutherglen. A Ful Head Tint and Cut and Blow Dry is just £45 all week.
