I don’t know about you, but I am FULLY ready for some relaxation, as we wait to see if winter is actually over! A couple of days of sunshine has put me in the mood for a break, but if, like me, a week in the sun is out of the question, don’t despair.
I’ve found some great Spa Day Big Deals on 5pm Spa and Beauty that will give you the hit of relaxartion you need, but won’t be a hit on your bank statement.
Let’s start with the Summer Spa Day at the Carnoustie Golf Hotel. It costs £49 instead of £82 for one person, and it can be a two person treat, if you like. You get a 45 minute treatment, a light lunch and use of the spa facilities That means the gym, pool, sauna, spa bath and steam room are all available to you.
The treatment is a back treatment – devil’s mint scrub, followed by a deep tissue massage with Elemis’s new green tea oil. Lunch is soup and a sandwich. and then the time is yours to relax and enjoy.
In Edinburgh, head to the Village Urban Spa for a Spa Day + Treatment for two. Costing £52, instead of £104, you get to escape the day-to-day and enjoy a treatment of your choice. Available seven days a week – but with a £15 weekend supplement – you get to choose from this list of treatments: Back neck and shoulder massage, Personalised facial, Full body exfoliation, Invigorating foot treatment, File and polish fingers, or File and polish toes.
The offer includes full access to a 20 metre heated swimming pool, steam room, sauna and whirlpool spa, and there’s a gym too.
At the Westerwood Hotel and Golf Resort, with stunning views of the Campsies, you can enjoy a Spa Day for two for just £59 insteadof £123.50, Monday to Friday. For that you get a soothing Rasul Mud treatment in the refurbished spa, afternoon tea with a mocktail and a half day in the leisure club. You do have to pay £7 for use of robe and slippers, so bear that in mind.
The Rasul Mud treatment, based on an ancient Arabian ritual is a 30 minute treatment which uses mineral-rich mud to deep cleanse and invigorate the skin. This treatment takes place in one of the spa’s private double treatment rooms. Mineral muds are presented to smooth onto the body and face yoursel, before you sit within the enfolding warmth of the Rasul. Steam, infused with relaxing aromas, is then gently introduced to the private chamber to help soothe tense muscles and open the pores. Towards the end of the experience, the steam will disappear to be replaced by a cool shower, leaving your skin feeling deeply cleansed and beautifully soft when you emerge.
Note that this is a self-applied treatment and does not have a therapist in the treatment room. Follow your treatment with a delicious afternoon tea, and then spend four hours using the spa’s swimming pool, sauna and Jacuzzi, as well as the steam room, experience shower, heated lounger and a new extended relaxation chamber.
If you haven’t been to the Guerlain Spa at the Waldorf Astoria in Edinburgh, then you must. It’s the beaiuty brand’s only UK spa, and it offers lovely treatments, with beautiful products. The Luxury Spa Day is just £79 instead of £127, and includes a day pass to the Guerlain Spa, a 60 minute treatment, and a glass of Prosecco.
Your treatment will take place in one of Guerlain’s custom-designed treatment rooms, designed to look and feel like the cabin of a ship. So while being pampered you can lie back and imagine you are on a long, balmy ocean voyage to a mythical island.

This doesn’t contain an actual treatment, but you get 20%off any treatments you book in conjunction with this offfer. What you do get is use of the swimming pool, gym and relaxation area, Jacuzzi, sauna and steam room, and a two-course lunch with sparkling wine.
This is a great deal for a break for anyone who just needs some time out- and that can apply to all of us at times, agreed?
