Boots No7 launch Neck Serum

I do have an issue with my neck. Being in my mid-40s, I’m more and more aware of that part of me ageing. I think I look okay for my age, but sometimes, when I move the wrong way, there it is  – crepey old neck.

So, I am more than happy to be trialling the latest No7 product  – Restore and Renew Face & Neck Multi Action Serum. Scientists are saying it can take ten years off you – no mean feat. But how?

Boots No7 new Restore & Renew Face & Neck Serum

Dr Mike Bell, scientific skincare adviser for Boots, explained: ‘The face gets a lot of attention, it is there in the mirror, but the neck gets forgotten. Unlike the skin on the face, the skin on the neck doesn’t have the bone structure to support it, so the effects of gravity are more apparent. Neck skin is also thinner, making the effects of structural changes more apparent.

Boots No7’s Protect & Perfect Intense Advanced Serum and others in the range have been best-sellers, blow all records for beauty products and made headlines worldwide. The key ingredient in the existing versions of the serum is the protein-boosting Matrixyl 3000 Plus.

This new product has an extra active complex of Calcium Amino Acids and Ceramides to help boost the epidermal strength – specifically targeting skin fragility and the crepey appearance of the neck. Tests have shown that these help mature skin cells behave like younger cells again. Hooray! That’s just what we want!

Boots has done all the usual clinical studies, and a year long clinical study of this serum involving 100 women aged over 55 found the majority had improvements across key measurements for ageing.

What’s so special about the two new ingredients. Back over to Dr Mike Bell.

Oestrogen helps collagen production and helps skin cells maintain their youthful vitality. As oestrogen levels fall, the corresponding decline in collagen exacerbates loss of firmness in the skin on the face and the neck. Calcium levels in the surface layers of the skin are also affected leading to a reduction in skin’s natural turnover and renewal process. Skin is drier and more fragile and a micro-texture of crepiness develops

Lovely! And I have seen it with my own eyes. So, although it as women over 55 that this product might be targeted at, I’d say try using it in your 40s as well, or even younger if you feel you need to.

No7 Restore & Renew Face & Neck MultiAction Serum, £28 30ml, and £36 50ml, is available from April 12, in stores and boots.com
