Double the Lips with Tom Ford and Benefit
Tom Ford creates beauty products you know you really don’t need, but you CRAVE them. They look SO beautiful you convince yourself you have to have them.
The new Shade and Illuminate Lips is one of those – and I have only seen images, haven’t even tried the thing!
But look at them. They ARE beautiful. The first run is six limited edition pairings designed to flatter a range of skin tones. I love Saboteur, a brilliantly bold pink and mauve.
This nude shade, Automatic, is going to be a best-seller, if it’s not already sold out!
Each one has two shades – one light and one dark – to create a subtle to dramatic ombre effect. essentially you are shaping the lips, making them stand out with a darker edge, lighter middle.
I love this pink duo, Possession, as well. I guess the idea is to use the dark, and then highlight with the lighter shade?
I’ve not felt the formula, obviously, but Tom Ford says thy have a velvety matte finish, thanks to a blend of polymers, and featuring emollient oils.
There’s a dual ended applicator with a sponge and lip brush to apply.
The lip duos are £44 each – there is always a price to pay for beauty, right?!
Tom Ford Shade and Illuminate Eye Duos, £44, available now for a limited time, at Tom Ford counters – Harvey Nichols, and Fraser’s Glasgow in Scotland.
There’s also another new dual lip product on the market – Benefit’s They’re Real Double the Lip. Launched in a box set last year, they are now available individually, in eight colours.
They have a liner at the top of the point, and lipstick below – hold it against the lips one way on top, turn on the bottom and you get a lip that is instantly ‘lined’ – the idea being that the darker outside edge brings depth to your lips, making the stand out more.
This is Flame Game – an orange with a red tip. It’s nice. I don’t love it, it’s gimmicky of course, but the texture is soft and the colour pay-off is good.
Benefit They’re Real Double The Lip, £16.50, available now, from Benefit counters and benefitcosmetics.co.uk
