NEW Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Lumiere

2 min read

Tom Ford has another new scent out to kick off 2017 – this time another variation on his classic orchid – or as Tom Ford puts it, “a new shimmering shade of velvet within The Tom Ford Orchid Collection”.

Welcome Tom Ford Velvet Orchid Lumiere. It’s a new interpretation of the Velvet Orchid EDP. I haven’t had the chance to have a sniff, so I can’t say much about it other than what I have been told.

The fragrance opens with a ‘heightened amplification’ of Italian bergamot and mandarin. Then there’s honey and Succan absolute, which is a hyper-purified rum extraction, which goves it a caramelized sugar-cane note.

The fragrance has a floral heart, filled with a Velvet orchid accord, comprising of jasmine absolute, Turkish Rose oil, and lush Cattleya Leopoldii orchid, which intertwines with Tom Ford’s signature Black Orchid.

At the base, vanilla, labdanum, sandalwood and myrrh.

I’m not a huge fan of Velvet Orchid – I find it a little too sweet, but this one might surprise. It sounds, however, very sweet.

The bottle is, as ever, lovely, with art-deco inpired lines, and has been recast in a matte dark purple finish.

If you love the Tom Ford Orchid fragrances, then you will want to add this one to your collection – and there is also a complementary Hydrating Emulsion – that’s a body lotion to you and me!
