Jo Malone Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense

It’s that time of year again, fragrance fans – the Jo Malone London Coogne Intense launch. And this year’s offering is Myrrh & Tonka.

As with all of the Cologne Intense scents, it lasts longer than the normal Jo Malone London colognes, which is a bonus. This one is really rich and will appeal to both men and women.

I have found it very more-ish, probably due to the top note of Lavender, which I love. But this is not lavender in that old-lady-pomander way, it’s just a hint of it, and the richness of it.

The key notes are

Top: Lavender

Heart: Omumbiri Myrrh

Base: Tonka

It is a very sensual scent, and the notes are different in this combination than usual. The base of tonka isn’t as sweet as you might think – it’s not overpowering at all.

There is an atmosphere of addiction and carnal richness to this fragrance which appeals to both men and women. At the top there is a hint of lavender and a floral note, creating a comforting and voluptuous opening. The big, rich heart, and base note of myrrh is sensual, and the tonka brings generosity. If you love rich,heady fragrances, then you will like this. It is super sophisticated as well. I am addicted to it already – it reminds me of a couple of my favourite Tom Ford scents, and apparently I am not alone in thinking that. Beauty insiders tell me Tom Ford insiders love this new JML scent too!
