TOM FORD Waterproof Foundation/Concealer Review

I think foundation is probably the single most important beauty buy you make. Getting the right base is vital to the rest of your makeup and it’s one product I am consistently asked advice on. So, any new foundations, I love to try them.

This week I’ve been using the new Tom Ford Waterproof Foundation/Concealer, a hybrid product, part of a small Tom Ford Autumn beauty collection.

The first thing I will say is, that, like most Tom Ford products, this is not cheap. Tom Ford is the luxury end of the beauty market, and their products, in my opinion, do, most of the time, live up to the expectations the price brings.

This new foundation is £64. That is very expensive. But it is very good. It’s a full coverage matte liquid foundation, but it feel anything but full coverage. I tried another brand’s newest full coverage foundation recently, and I was disappointed in the thickness of it.

This feels nothing like that. It’s a hybrid of concealer and foundation, and a little goes a long way – jut as well at this price. It withstands harsh weather conditions, such as heat, humidity and water, say Tom Ford, although I haven’t had to put it to the test in those conditions yet.

Tom Ford also recommend that it can help minimise the appearance of tattoos and port wine stains, should you want to do that. I apply it with a brush, and it does give excellent coverage, but, more importantly, it’s not drying, it doesn’t cake, and it doesn’t sit in pores.

It feels really smooth once on as well, and you can layer it up, should you want more in certain areas. I have read some reviews saying it sat in dry patches, but I really didn’t get that on my skin, which is prone to  those patches. Most foundaiton does sit in pores or patches a little bit, but I found the velvety texture of this seemed to not do that.

If you love to splash the cash on beauty, then I would suggest splashing it on your base, and this one is a great investment. It’s a perfect winter foundation, but you need to be really sure about it before you buy.  It comes in 12 shades.
