Clarins Autumn Winter Makeup
I’m a bit late with this, it sort of passed me by for some reason. Not like me, as Clarins are definitely one of my all-time favourite beauty brands. I can’t live without their black Instant Liner liquid liner. Best. Product. Ever.
But let’s talk today about their AW16 collection. It focuses on the eyes, from day to night, with a new mascara, and lovely new eyeshadow quads.
The mascara – Mascara Supra Volume (£21.50) is a reinvention of the original Clarins volumising mascara. It has a blend of plant waxes at the heart of its formula, including carnauba wax powder and cassie flower that form a film that coats and shapes each lash.
This mascara has a new ‘volume booster’ Complex, created at the Clarins laboratories, and it claims to help to thicken lashes, and with repeated applicaiton, increase lash volume. I haven’t used this long enough to say if this happens, but I will persevere. I don’t mind this mascara, it certainly gives volume, I like the brush and it smells lovely! It comes in two shades, Intense Black and Intense Brown.
The 4-Colour Eyeshadow Palette (£34) is sleek, as ever, in lovely gold packaging, and wee red velvety case, and each palette offers highly concentrated mineral pigments in lovely shades. There are four palettes – Nude, Rosewood, Brown and Oud – each contains a mix of matte, satin and pearlescent shades, formulated for wet and dry. Oud is only available in Harrods and Selfridges, but you can get it online.
The revamped Joli Rouge Lipsticks (£20) come in lovely gold elliptical cases, and if there is any colour you get for this AW, make it a deep, 90s-inspired plum – the shade to go for here is Royal Plum. There are 25 shades of lipstick available, across the colour spectrum. The formula is ultra-moisturising.
Another new launch this August for Clarins was the BB Skin Detox Fluid SPF25 (£30), a makeup/skincare hybrid. Containing an infusion of beneficial plant extracts, this oil-free formula gives a really light finish. It does three things really – Balance, perfects, and protects.
It balances thanks to acerola seed to encourage skin oxygenation, meadow sweet extract to help maintain skin’s balance and aloe vera extract and hyaluronic acid complex to provide all day hydration.
It perfects by correcting imperfections using 3D radiance pigments, to optically break up the light into three dimensions to give skin that lovely glow.
It protects skin from the environment by using Clarins’ exclusive Anti-Pollution complex, composed of succory dock-cress and white tea extracts, as well as that mineral UVA/UVB sun protection.
Massage into your palms to earm, and then apply from the middle of the face out to the sides. This comes in four shades, Fair, Light, Medium and Dark, and it feels great, and looks lovely on the skin.
