YSL launch Vinyl Cream Creamy Stain

2 min read

MORE lipstick hybrids! YSL launched their Vernis A Levres (Glossy Stain) back in 2012.  It was a revelation – it mixed the benefits of a lip stain, a high shine gloss, and intense lipstick.

I can remember the press launch, and greedily grabbing the colours to apply in the toilet as we left, and keeping it a secret from that November day until the February launch.

Fast forward three years, and this time it was the Vernis A Levres Pop Water, a long-lasting transulcent colour, with a watery brilliance. Now, it’s the third generation of Vernis A Levres, this time Vinyl Cream, Creamy Stain. And I do love this one.

It’s a creamy lip stain. Still a mash-up of a gloss, a stain, and a lipstick, but this time creamy, as opposed to liquid. It feels fab on the lips, and it lasts longer, I think.

It’s also fab for your lips – the ingredients are similar to skincare ingredients, say YSL, and the texture certainly feels lovely and creamy. I’m not sure how many new lipstick/gloss/stain/etc hybrids we need, but the beauty companies keep on releasing new lip formulas, each one seemingly better for the lips than the last.

This stuff just makes me want to rub my lips together constantly, it has such a creamy finish, but that means going through loads of it! Being a matte lip fan, it is a bit of a departure, but there are loads of lovely shades to choose from, to make that change.

My favourite has to be Orange Electro – it’s bright, bold and, well, very, very, orange. I’ve also tried Carmin Session, but I was a wee bit disappointed with the colour of this one – just not the ‘dazzling dance floor red’ YSL describe it as.

The other shades are: Rouge Vinyle, a rock and roll red, Rouge Remix, another red, Rose Happening, a hot pink, Nude Pulse, a nude, Explicit Pink, a magenta, Corail Neo-Pop, a coral, Burgundy Vibes, a deep red, Fuchsia Live, a pink, Rhythm Red, a scarlet, and Rose Mix, a pink.

Finally, the applicator is new as well – modelled on a slim-cut diamond, it has tiny ridges in it which get drenched in the cream lippy. It moulds to the curves of your lips perfectly.

YSL Vernis A Levres Vinyl Cream launches on September 7, £26, from YSL counters and yslbeauty.co.uk
