Charlotte Tilbury launches in Scotland

3 min read

Say the name Charlotte Tilbury to a beauty fan, and they will most likely exclaim with glee. The makeup artist, who launched her own brand three years ago, has become something of an icon in the beauty world, and finally this month she arrives in Scotland. At House of Fraser in Glagow, to be precise.

Timing is everything, and mine was completely off last week, as, whilst Charlotte’s band of makeup artists were making over every beauty writer, editor and blogger in the country, I was out of town on my holiday!

My friend and colleague Alison went along  – you can see her fabulous Rebel transformation below, on her instagram feed

Alison’s look is one of 10 Colour-Coded looks that form the Charlotte Tilbury Collection. Charlotte’s ethos is that beauty and makeup should be easy, and for everyone. So, all of the colour products in her range are curateed into 10 colour-wardrobes that reflect the lifestyle and personality of 10 different women. Each look shows you how to match the right eyes, cheeks and lips as put together by Charlotte.

Alison’s The Rebel, is inspired by Debbie Harry, Grace Jones and Lady Gaga.

The other nine are:
The Ingenue, inspired by Mia Farrow, Alexa Chung, Kirsten Dunst; The Golden Goddess, inspired by Ursula Andress, Elle McPherson, Gisele, Kate Moss; The Uptown Girl, inspired by Grace Kelly, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Kate Middleton; The Sophisticate, inspired by Audrey Hepburn, Natalie Portman; The Rock Chick, inspired by Brigitte Bardot, Anita Pallenberg, Kate Moss, Cara Delevignge; The Dolce Vita, inspired by Sophia Loren, Penelope Cruz, Beyonce; The Bombshell, inspired by Marilyn Monroe, Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, Scarlett Johansson; The Vintage Vamp, inspired by Lauren Bacall, Louise Brooks, Rihanna; and The Glamour Muse, inspired by Jerry Hall, Beyonce, Jennifer Lopez

Each look is made up of Eyes, Cheeks and Lips, the products are Charlotte’s Luxury Eye Shadow Palettes, eyeliners, Full Fat Lashes mascara, Cheek-to-Chic blusher, Lips Cheat lipliner, K.I.S.S.I.N.G lipstick and Lip Lustre lip lacquer. Prices range from around £16 60 £50 for makeup, and £50 to £100 for skincare.

The products are lovely to look at – the packaging has that vintage, luxury feel. As I missed the makeover, I’ve yet to discover how good (or not!) the actual products are.

Although colour is the main focus, there are skincare products, including two best-sellers – Charlotte’s Magic Cream, a rich, hydrating, anti-ageing moisturiser, and the Wonder Glow, a skincare/makeup hybrid, you can wear alone, or over foundation.

The base is all important for any makeup artist, and Charlotte has spent time developing the perfect base products. Charlotte’s Magic Foundation is best described by Charlotte herself!

My Magic Foundation is a miracle in a bottle that transforms skin for all ages, skin tones and skin types. I have worked with laboratories for five years to create a “hyper-intelligent” formula that gives full-coverage yet feels completely weightless, with all the anti-ageing and protective benefits of a luxury skin cream. It conceals imperfections, glides on like a dream, and literally feels like a second skin. Whether your skin needs just a bit of perfecting, or you struggle with a frustrating issue like acne, melasma or rosacea, my Magic Foundation will give you a perfect looking skin day, every day! – Charlotte Tilbury

The Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder is a micro-powder, which promises not to cake, or sit in lines. There are around 100 products in Charlotte’s range – experience them for yourself at the Fraser’s Glasgow counter, and the best way to do that is have a mini makeover at counter.
