Sophie, and her boyfriend, Robert Maltby, were set upon by thugs in her local park, because they were Goths. Her mother, Sylvia, set up the Lancaster Foundation after her daughter’s awful death, to help stamp put prejudice, hatred and intolerance everywhere, and Illamasqua have long been supporters, as a makeup brand who encourage individualism and self-expression.

The Solidarity collection comprises two pieces – a jet black eye pencil and a coral blusher, and was created in memory of Sophie. £3 from every eye pencil sold, and £1 from every blusher go straight to the foundation to help fight their cause and raise awareness of hate crimes. The donations the charity receives are all ploughed back into national education workshops.

The S.O.P.H.I.E workshops have been created to educate young people about subcultures and teach them how to be tolerant and accepting of everyone, a message Illamasqua stand behind.

Powder Blusher in S.O.P.H.I.E, £22, and Eye Colouring Pencil in S.O.P.H.I.E, £16, are available at illamasqua.com. For more info on the foundation, visit sophielancasterfoundation.com
