Tom Ford Soleil Blanc Private Blend
Tom Ford launches a new private Blend fragrance next month – Soleil Blanc. It’s in a white bottle, and comes in three sizes – 50ml, 100ml and 250ml. It launches alongside the new colour collection, which we’ll get to another day.
But first, this new fragrance, and there’s been a lot of internet chat about this on the fragrance websites. Many are asking if it’s worthy of the Private Blend title, and whethr it should have been just a mainline fragrance. Others are comparing it heavily to Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess.
I’m not so sure it’s that like Bronze Goddess really – it has much more of an oriental floral scent about it. Yes, those creamy ‘suntan lotion’ notes are there, but I don’t think that’s what they are all about.
I am a MASSIVE Tom Ford fragrance fan. I adore his Private Blends. They last forever, and they are clever, and unusual, and some of them are so more-ish, it’s hard to stop spraying. I described my absolute favourites in my National Fragrance Day post the other week on here.
BUt this one isn’t going to make it into my top five. Or my top ten. I don’t love it. I don’t dislike it, I just don’t love it. It just doesn’t have that ‘wow factor’ that his other scents have.
It has top notes of cardamom and pink peepercorn, alongisde bergamot and pistachio – which I am finding hard to pick out. The heart is floral, a blendnof ylang ylang, Egyptian jasmine, and tuberose, and the dry down is amber, tonka bean and coconut milk, which I definitely did pick up on.
It’s not an unpleasant smell, but it just doesn’t draw me in like others have. I found it a wee bit predictable for a summer scent. I do love the white and gold bottles, and the fact that the whole makeup collection for summer is now in white packaging, harking back to the days of the original white lipstick packaging. I still have my cherry Lust in white packging – a classic red, but I digress!
If you need a new summer scent in your life, then go check this one out.
