Chanel Christmas - Rouge Noir Absolument

2 min read

Chanel’s Christmas makeup collection for 2015 celebrates one of their most talked about products, Le Vernis Rouge Noir. Who would have thought a simple nail colour could spark an industry revolution!? But that’s exactly what that famous red/black polish, Rouge Noir did, when it launched back in 1995. Yes, that’s right, it’s 20 years old, and I officially feel ANCIENT!

For much more on this iconic shade that made us all fall in love with nails once more, see the Cult Beauty post next week. For now, back to Christmas, and the Rouge Noir celebration.  Chanel have decided that as Rouge Noir is such an iconic shade, this year, we can wear it everywhere! On lips, eyes, face and nails. I love it!

First up, the hero product of the collection – this beautiful Signe Particulier Exclusive Creation (£44). This gorgeous eye quad has everything you need for party eyes. It revolve around a deep, luminous and matte rouge noir, of course, has a warm saffron gold for highlights, a velvety parma violet, and a slightly rosy satiny beige. You can use them on their own, or as  duo for intense colour. Each is stamped with a double C, like a seal.

As for the rest of this collection, it’s Rouge Noir fabulous! There’s an Illusion D’Ombre Eye Shadow (£25) in this deep shade, perfect for creating irresistible lamé smoky eyes. Le Volume De Chanel Mascara comes in Rouge Noir (£25), with deep garnet shimmers enhancing intense black.

You can use it alone or layer it over another mascara. Le Crayon Yeux Eyeliner pencil in Or Safran (£17), is a beautiful golden shade, the perfect foil for Le Crayon Khol in Rouge Noir (£17), a deep satisfying shade.

For the lips, go red, or go nude. Chanel’s Rouge Allure (£26), in satin or velvet finish is a beautiful intense lipstic, Rouge Allure in Vaporeuese is a lovely innocent pink with a hint of parma violet.  Rouge Allure Velvet in La Merveilleuse is a deep raspberry red, and it’s just beautiful. There are two shades of Levres Scintillantes Lip Gloss (£22), pale pink Rose de Lune, and a sheer, gold-sprinkled take on rouge noir, called Étincelle.

Of course there are nails, Rouge Noir, and Rose Fusion, and a beautiful Le Top Coat Lame Rouge Noir (£18 each), all sparkly, glittery and fantastic! Oh, and exclusive to Chanel boutiques at Covent Garden, London, and Burlington Arcade, the ovely Rouge Double Intensite (£25) in Merry Rose, a lovely dual lip colour.

The Chanel Christmas Rouge Noir Limited Edition collection is available at Chanel counters, from November 6.
