Darphin 8-Flower Nectar Oil Cream

2 min read

Here’s another night-time treat, a rich and luxurious oil-based cream from Darphin. Their 8-Flower Nectar Oil Cream delivers the ingredients from Darphin’s 8-Flower Nectar Essential Oil Elixir in a rich oil cream. The ‘recipe’ is an oil emulsion in water.

So, when you apply the cream on the skin, the formula evolves from a cream to a comforting oil. It’s a very clever cream, and the sensitive nature of its botanical ingredients calls for small batches, meticulously calibrated measures, controlled temperatures, and precise cycles for gentle warming, infusing, blending and cooling.

The cream base is composed of two varieties of Shea Butter, Brazilian Tapioca, and nourishing oils. The process to create this cream is intense. Once these ingredients are blended with the oil, the emulsion is poured into a jar at a precise temperature. Then the 8-Flower Nectar Oil Cream must stand sealed and completely undisturbed at a controlled room temperature in order to achieve its ideal expected texture. This usually takes a week!

At night, use this cream after your nightly serum and nightly oil, if you use one. Darphin suggest that instead of just dotting it on and rubbing it in, you should follow a particular routine. Firstly, place a pearl-sized amount into palm and rub hands together, then gently sweep across face, neck and decollete.

Then using one hand, massage forehead, then around eyes, staring from the outer corner. Then with both hands, massage temples, then the top of the cheek bones. Then massage from nose, across upper lip to chin, then from cheek to cheek, across upper lip. Finally massage along jawline and repeat on the neck.

The smell from this cream is quite strong, I found. I also think a pearl sized amount isn’t enough. Maybe I use too much, but a wee bit more suited me.

It is a luxury night-time product, and although oil-based, it’s great for all skintypes.

Darphin 8-Flower Nectar Oil Cream, £65 30ml, is available from October, from Darphin locations and darphin.co.uk
