Spa Day at Loch Fyne

3 min read

Loch Fyne Hotel has all the requirements for the perfect hotel break in Scotland.

A spectacular drive which despite weaving through dramatic lochs and mountains is only an hour and a half from Glasgow.

An ideal setting in Inverary, a gorgeous little town filled with cute shops (year round Christmas shop anyone?), cosy pubs and things to see and do, like the historic jail and nearby castle.

A beautiful location set on the banks of Loch Fyne framed by the rugged hill of Argyle.

And the hotel itself which has a top quality spa and restaurant, as well as luxuriously decorated rooms.

So when Loch Fyne Hotel called and asked if 5pm would like to visit for a spa day, it’s not much of a surprise we said yes.

Spa day

If we were to describe Loch Fyne Hotel in one word it would be “cosy”. As soon as you step inside the hotel you feel wrapped up by the warm traditional decor, a particularly pleasant experience when it is pouring with rain outside, like it was on the day we visited.

The staff at Loch Fyne immediately handed us fluffy white bath robes and told us to head into the pool area.

The rain battering the floor to ceiling windows by the poolside, we lounged around the pool and jacuzzi (saving swimming lengths for another day).

After sweating out all the toxins in the sauna and steam room we headed outside to the outdoor hot tub. If there is a better feeling than sitting in an outdoor hot tub on a grey chilly day I would like to hear it.

Pool activities over, we headed into Loch Fyne’s bar still wearing our fluffy robes for some lunch.

I opted for pasta.

And Ruth went for salmon.

The hotel had booked us in for treatments after lunch so when our food had settled we headed into the spa, a low lit calming oasis in which you feel your shoulders relax as soon as you step inside.

I opted for the back, neck and shoulder massage and salt body scrub. My massage therapist spent a lot of time on the problem area of my lower back as well as unravelling a big knot of tension which had worked its way into my right shoulder. The pressure was perfect – not too hard, not too soft, and my tension had all by disappeared by the time I floated out the room.

The salt scrub also felt amazing and did an excellent job of sorting out my elephant dry skin.

Suitably fed, massaged, scrubbed and relaxed, we changed out of our fluffy robes back into our work clothes and stopped out of the hotel back into the rain – which had turned from drizzle to torrential.

Thanks for having us Loch Fyne Hotel.
