Tom Ford Summer 2015 Soleil Collection
When this new Tom Ford Summer 2015 Soleil Collection landed on my lap last week, I stopped ehat I was doing and sgtarted a mad internet search for a summer holiday.
It IS summer, in lovely, sleek, white packaging. It made me think of luxury holidays I can only dream of, but wherever you head this summer, if you take any of this collection with you, you’ll feel like your are in that seven-star resort!
Tom Ford makeup, like luxury holidays, is, well, a luxury. But, if you can afford to treat yourself on pay day, then treat yourself with something from the Soleil collection, because, not only is Tom Ford Beauty beautiful, it’s really very good.
This lovely Soleil collection ‘captures the sensuality of summer‘, says Tom. Eyes smoulder in burnished tones or metallics, whilst cheeks glow with luminous warmth. And the new Tom Ford Shimmering Body Oil ‘veils the skin in golden light‘. Even as I write that sentence, I’m there, on the terrace, glass of wine in hand, watching the glorious sunset in some tropical paradise.
So, let’s dissect this lovely collection, shall we? The Tom Ford Shimmering Body Oil (£68) reminds me of Estee Lauder’s Bronze Goddess (more on that later), but I didn’t say that, did I?! Anyway, it’s silky and lightweight and leaves your skin all-a-shimmer. Gorgeous.
Tom Ford’s summer collections are encased in white and gold, as his original lipsticks were, and one of the most iconic products is his Bronzing Powder. And now it comes in two sizes – the original large, and a lovely little smaller size, the size of his fab new Cream Cheek Color (£46, this comes in a lovely shade called Pink Sand). The bronzers come in Terra, and the lighter Gold Dust, and are £56 and £68.
I was pretty intrigued by the new Cream and Powder Eye Colour Duos (£46). They don’t look as luxurious as most Tom Ford makeup, in their little plastic dual-tubs, but the product is fantastic. You get the two coveted formulas in one purchase. The ultra-pigmented metallic cream shadow glides on to lids and the sparkling powder intensifies the look with added shimmer. So, you can wear each shade along, or layered, depending on your mood. There are four to choose from – Midnight Sea, Black Oyster, Golden Peach and Naked Bronze.
For summer lips, read Tom Ford Lip Color Sheer lips (£37). In the lovely white and gold packaging, this lipstick delivers a sheen of colour to complement that bronzed skin. They’re semi-translucent, and very moisturising with lovelies like Vitamin C and E, and Shea Butter in them. Choose from Sweet Spot, Skinnydip, Rose Soleil or Paradiso, which is a fantastic summer coral.
And finally, last but by not means least, the star of the Soleil collection for me, this lovely Eye and Cheek Compact (£68). It’s such a nice way to buy a little bit of luxury. You get three eye shadows and two cheek colours to create a gorgeous, sensuous, summery look. Eyes are softly smoked with the palette with matte and shimmer in golden violet shades, and cheeks are highlighted with rose gold, and enhanced with a rich, vibrant, plum blush. You want to be pulling this compact out over cocktails in the beach bar, you know you do!
The Tom Ford Summer 2015 Soleil Collection is available from Tom Ford Private Blend counters, at Harvey Nichols, Edinburgh and Fraser’s, Glasgow, and online at various department stores, from April 27.
