The Body Shop Hemp Soap on a rope

Soap on a rope! That’s  a blast from the past, and actually quite a brilliant alternative to shower gel! I love soap, so I was thrilled to try the new Body Shop Hemp Soap on a Rope. After I had stopped staring at the ad campaign image!

Right, pay attention! I know, it’s difficult, isn’t it?! Anyway, The Body Shop’s Hemp range is hugely popular, and their best-seller is the Hemp Hand Protector, which I have just discovered and am enjoying using.

Hemp, one of the oldest crops in the world, was introduced to Europe by Asian traders. It was grown for construction, food, its rich oil and medicine. It was so important, that by 1533, King Henry VIII ordered all English farmers to grow at least one acre of hemp for the shipbuilding industries.

The Body Shop’s hemp is a ‘miracle’ crop for the environment, as it helps to regenerate the land between food crops, is four times more effective at capturing CO2 than trees and it uses no pesticides or herbicides at all.
