Rouge Allure Gloss from Chanel

2 min read

Chanel have recently launched a new lipgloss – Rouge Allure Gloss -which is much more than just a gloss. Of course. Beauty brands can’t just launch a gloss anymore, or a lipstick, or an eyeshadow, no, no, no. Every new product seems to be multi-functional, with amazing ingredients, to make it stand out from the rest.

But before we talk about the gloss – the packaging. It’s the click format of the Rouge Allure lipsticks that had me stumped when I first tried to open them when they launched. So, all the gloss is cleverly hidden inside the black case, you click the gold button on the top down and pull the wand out. Magic!

Rouge Allure Gloss offers pure and vibrant colour, intense shine, surprising hold, and it cares for your lips. The colour is thanks to the high concentration of finely  ground pigments, the shine comes from a combination of a film-forming polymer and glass microbeads, which acts like a magnifying glass, creating a mirror effect and optimising shine with a lacquered effect.

The hold comes from two polymers, one for colour hold and the other to maintain shine, which join forces in a second-skin texture that offers intense but lightweight coverage. The care aspect comes from the active ingredients in the gloss, a unique blend of Sappan wood, matcha green tea butter and a Vitamin E derivative.

So, your lips get protection against environmental assaults, feel hydrated, look plumper and the colour is great. Sounds like the best lipgloss ever! And actually, it isn’t really like any other gloss I have used. It’s not as rich as a lip lacquer, or as matte as a lipstick, but it feels amazing and creamy on, still looks glossy and gives great coverage. Thumbs up!

It’s available now, and comes in 11 fantastic shades. Chanel also recommends that you layer the gloss on lipstick for a deeper look. There are three new Rouge Allure Lipstick shades they have matched to glosses.

Craquante is an ultra-luminous and feminine bright pink lipstick which works well with Rouge Allure Gloss in Sensible. Foudroyante is a chocolate lipstick with subtle plum shimmers, which works with the gloss in Audace, and Elegante is a deep, intense, blackcurrant shade which works well with Distinction gloss over the top.

And there are also three new Le Vernis nail polish shades matched to the glosses too: Intention,  a natural rosy beige with a pearly golden heart; Expression,  a brilliant raspberry red; and Exception, a timeless and modern chocolate brown.

Rouge Allure Gloss, £26, is available now at Chanel counters nationwide. Rouge Allure Lipstick, £26, and Le Vernis, £18, also available now. Visit chanel.com for more info.
