Olay Total Effects Pore Minimiser CC Cream

Here’s another recent launch from a brand I’m not that familar with  – Olay. I know, how can you not be familiar with Olay, I hear you cry! Well, of course, I know all about Olay, but I’ve never used that many of their products.

But, after trying out the new Olay Total Effects Pore Minimizer CC Cream, I’m going to be investigating some more products. I really like it! It’s another CC Cream, yes, and that means it is an all-in-one anti-ageing moisturiser with a hint of tint. What this claims to do is reduce pore size, which, according to Olay scientists is HUGELY important to us women. Apparently pores are the new wrinkles. Now, I’m not sure how I feel about this. Are we really more bothered by pores than wrinkles, or is it just something else we are supposed to worry about?!

Anyway, new Olay research tells us that skin texture and visible pores contribute significantly to our perceptions of a woman’s age, health and attractiveness – pores unfortunately become more visible with age. So, to embrace this season’s ‘hyper real’, flawless looking skin finish we all need to address pores. Right. No pressure there then…!
At Olay, we’re always looking for “what’s next” in skincare. We discovered that women with smaller or fewer visible pores, giving the appearance of a flawless skin finish, were perceived to be younger, healthier and more attractive,” says Dr Sian Morris, Principal Scientist at Olay. “This inspired the creation of  Olay Total Effects Pore Minimiser CC Cream to help fight the appearance of both pores and wrinkles in the long term, as well as delivering the flawless skin look women desire instantly.”

Natural-looking, flawless skin continues to be a key beauty trend and was seen on almost all AW14 catwalks. Lets be honest, you are never going to look like the catwalk models who are catwalk models thanks in part to their flawless skin. But, Olay recognise that, and so their hashtag for this new product is #EverydayFlawless – it’s all about creating your own look – as flawless as you can get it.

Caroline Barnes, expert makeup artist comments, “Hyper-real skin was a dominant catwalk look this season. It’s a simple look to recreate, but it does require a great base, which makes prepping your skin a priority. That’s why I love the NEW Olay Total Effects Pore Minimiser CC Cream; it allows women to embrace the trend with instant coverage and a flawless finish whilst also cleverly dealing with the longer term signs of ageing like enlarged pores, unbalanced skin tone or fine lines.

So, does it actually work? Well, I am impressed. I did feel that it minimised the look of my pores, on my nose and chin, where they are most noticeable. Aside from that it smells gorgeous and it looks great on. Not too much coverage, and you can use it under another foundation if you want, as a sort of primer.

And the science behind it? Well, this new product contains  the highest concentration of Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) in the Olay Total Effects range. The Olay Total Effects’ proven science centres on its Multi-Vitamin Complex: Vitaniacin™, a unique patented combination of Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide), Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) and Pro-Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) that in the formula actively helps strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier, penetrating the skin’s outer layers to fight the multiple signs of skin ageing.

Each of the three key ingredients is clinically proven to make a measurable and noticeable difference to the appearance of skin: Vitamin B3 (Niacinamide) is proven to help reduce pigmentation and improve skin tone;  Vitamin E (Tocopheryl Acetate) is proven to moisturise and protect skin from free radical damage, and  Pro-Vitamin B5 (Panthenol) is proven to hydrate. reduces roughness and improving skin elasticity, as well as soothing the skin.

Phew! It comes in three shades – Fair to Light, Light to Medium and Medium to Deep.
