Estee Lauder Modern Muse Chic

After the mega-launch – and success – of Estee Lauder’s Modern Muse fragrance, their first in years, it’s no surprise they are now launching a new version of it. You can read about the original Modern Muse on last year’s blog post here, and now I’ll try and explain the differences in the new one!

Modern Muse Chic represents the bold, daring, creative side of a Modern Muse, say Estee Lauder. In fragrance terms, it’s a Vivid Woody Floral. Which is a bit confusing as the original is a woody floral too…

modern muse chic 2It had a Jasmine Accord, and a Sleek Woods Accord. This one has a Vivid Florals Accord and an Ebony Woods Accord.

Floral-wise, it retains the Jasmine Sambac at the heart, and adds Tberose Fir Abs, Stargazer Lilies, Juicy Plum and Davana, for, what I can smell, as a sweeter floral scent.

Woods-wise, the newest fragrance retains Patchouli and Musk, but they are richer, more intense varieties.

The same Madagascar Vanilla is there, but it also contains Cashmere Woods, Agarwood and Labdanum.

Which one do I prefer?

Whilst I love the depth of the woody notes in the new scent, it loses the gorgeous jasmine of the original for me, so I will stick with the original Modern Muse.

Visually, Modern Muse Chic is a pink coloured scent, in the same bottle but the navy bow is studded with gold-toned studs.

Modern Muse Chic is previewing at Boots from September 19, and will be available nationwide from October at Estee Lauder counters and esteelauder.co.uk, priced £45, £62 and £88 for EDP 30ml, 50ml, 100ml respectively
