Hydrating Facial – in a packet!

But to paraphrase a certain advert, this is no ordinary packet, this is a Creme de la Mer packet! For all you Creme fans, this is a wee heads up for a real treat, coming to counters next month for a limited period. The Hydrating Facial is a box of six face masks, designed to deliver superior hydration to your skin. The masks are cotton, and in two parts - one for the top zone of the face, and one for the bottom. They address all the main skin … [Read more...]

The most expensive foundation ever?

Continuing the skin/foundation theme, this post is about what must be the most expensive foundation ever!  The new Skinleya Anti-aging Lift Foundation from Sisley comes in at £110. Yes, you read that right, £110. The reason of course is that it contains the same technology as their anti-ageing cream, Sisleya Global Anti Age which comes in at over the £200 mark. I've used the cream and now the foundation, and whilst I really can't say if they are … [Read more...]

Blemish Balm – the beauty buzzword

It's going to be all about the skin this week - I've had so many new foundations, creams, serums, etc, to try out recently, I don't know what to use. First up is Boots 17's Blemish Balm, or BB cream, or 'All in one Magic Makeup', as they are marketing it. Blemish Balm - BB cream really is this year's beauty buzzword. The product originates in Asia, and is a sort of 'do everything' product. Basically they give coverage, as well as moisturising, … [Read more...]

Are you a typical Scot when it comes to beauty?

According to a recent survey by Debenhams*, Scottish women's beauty sisters are to be found in Essex! Despite being at different ends of the UK, it seems Scottish lassies and those Essex girls share the same top five best-selling beauty products - Bronzer, Fake tan, Mascara, Lip Gloss and False eyelashes. It looks like I should be heading to the Midlands to find my kindred spirits where red lipstick is the number one best seller at the … [Read more...]

Beauty Bargain of the Week – Yardley Soap

We can all spend a fortune on beauty products, but we don’t need to. Every week, I’m going to bring you my ‘Beauty Bargain of the Week‘  – a product I’ve used, and would recommend, and that, on most occasions, costs less than a fiver! What’s not to like!   So, tomorrow is Global Handwashing Day in case you didn't know! Apparently, according to a BBC News story today, one in six mobile phones is contaminated with, well, unmentionable! (Go … [Read more...]

National Chocolate Week – it’s Lush!

We're slap bang in the middle of National Chocolate Week (10th to 16th October), and as well, or instead of stuffing your face with Mars Bars and Snickers (or was that just me?!), why not indulge in some fabulous chocolate products from Lush Fresh Handmade Cosmetics to give them their full name! I don't know about you, but I adore Lush! Their bath bombs are a staple in our house, and a visit to a Lush store is heaven for the senses. They do … [Read more...]

Anti-Ageing Bodycare? Yes please!

Ah, those brilliant people at Elemis, always coming up with lovely new products! The latest is Pro-Collagen Body Cream - billed as 'the ultimate winter wonder cream', and the latest addition to their body anti-ageing range. Many women make the mistake of neglecting their body and putting all their efforts into their facial skincare, but Elemis Director of Product and Treatment Development Noella Gabriel can't stress the importance of looking … [Read more...]

2 Shoes, 1 Smudge!

Poor old 2 Shoes. Not only did the Essex duo get booted off the X Factor last night in the first weekend of live shows, the dark-haired one appeared on national television with her lipstick smeared all over her face! Was that not the biggest beauty faux pas of the show (well, apart from Kitty's crazy Saturday night eye makeup, maybe)? There is nothing worse than thinking your lippy is on your teeth, has bled a bit, or has smudged. Who knows … [Read more...]

Refine your skin…

Winter is coming, that's a fact, and with it comes all sorts of skincare issues. For me, the combination of cold weather and central heating mean dry patches and a 'tightening feeling' are more prevalent. Extra rich moisturisers are a must, but it's also the time of year when we need to do more exfoliating, making sure that we get rid of the dead skin cells. So, a facial scrub is also a must, and the new Aveda Tourmaline Charged Radiant Skin … [Read more...]

Beauty Bargain of the Week – Collection 2000

I love this Collection 2000 Skyscraper mascara - the name is brilliant, and, for a cheap mascara, it's not bad at all. I've tried more mascaras than I will ever remember this year alone, but this one, in the bargain end of the beauty market, is pretty good. The brush is double sided - one side short bristles, the other long. This means it can add length and definition. The brush is really flexible, which means it's easy to manoeuvre it through … [Read more...]
