Before you go to bed…remember to put your make up ON!

Odd headline? Well, odd product alert! If you know anything about mineral makeup, and in particular, the Kings of that field, bareEscentuals, bareMinerals, you probably know that going to sleep with your mineral makeup on is actually OK. The natural non-chemical mineral content of your makeup is probably less harmful to your skin than some of the alcohol wipes we might use to take it off in a rush. (This doesn't mean I don't advocate a proper … [Read more...]

1970s glamour with Boots No7

The 1970s is a massive fashion trend this season (and no, we don't mean flares and afro wigs!). We're talking denim skirts, wedge heels, luxurious palazzo pants in silk fabrics, butter soft leathers, low cut blouses, long, luscious locks, and lots and lots of gloss! Think Jerry Hall, Marie Helvin and Bianca Jagger... That's exactly what No7 Creative Consultant Lisa Eldridge did when she created the latest No7 Limited Edition makeup collection … [Read more...]

Beauty and The Apprentice…

I LOVE The Apprentice. It's still one of the best reality TV shows on the box, and, being a Beauty Editor, I can't WAIT to see tonight's episode, which is all about the beauty industry. The remaining 13 candidates are tasked with  setting up beauty salons in Birmingham. We all know there's money to be made in the beauty industry if you know what you're doing - but it soon becomes apparent this lot don't have a clue! Tonight's project … [Read more...]

Vajazzling at the BAFTAS?! Shut Up!

So, The Only Way is Essex (TOWIE) won a BAFTA TV Award last night, and the female stars of the show amped up the glamour voltage with some amazing dresses. But, I wondered, were there any Vajazzles underneath?! TOWIE won the You Tube audience award after the mockumentary style show's second series was a massive hit. The ITV2 show will return in the Autumn for a third series Amy Childs, possibly the worst 'beautician' you'll ever see, also … [Read more...]

M·A·C were the official Beauty Partner at last night's BAFTA TV awards and were on-hand to offer one-on-one make up appointments to nominees, presenters and guests of the awards. Appointments were held in the M·A·C Style Suite at the official BAFTA hotel, The Pelham. I love Kate Ford - Corrie's scheming uber-bitch Tracy Barlow's red lipstick look, above, and celebrity chef, Gizzi Erskine  - best known for presenting Channel 4's Cook Yourself … [Read more...]

Keep Young And Beautiful

Elemis and Clarins are two of the big names in beauty to have just launched dedicated lines for teenagers and twentysomethings. It got me thinking - when did you start bothering about your skin? I can't recall ever having a 'skincare routine' until I was well into my 20's, despite studying at beauty school aged 17 (it's no wonder I dropped out after a year!) I remember my mum taking me into town to buy a certain three-step cleanse, tone and … [Read more...]

Waiting to flutter those lashes!

Waiting lists are usually for sought-after clothes, the latest designer handbag, or maybe even the latest Chanel nail varnish shade (crazy but true!). But THE waiting list to be on just now is the one at Boots. Yes, that's Boots the Chemist, and it's for a mascara. Sound ridiculous? Well, apparently not. Australian cosmetic company Model Co have stirred up a frenzy about their Fibre Lash Brush on False Lashes. Dannii Minogue is the celebrity … [Read more...]

Fake Tan Fix

Okay, if you want a fake tan done well, then go to a salon - there are plenty offers here on Health and Beauty to choose from, after all. But, sometimes, we all do it at home, don't we? A few weeks ago, I had a wedding, and decided, as it was spring, to leave the tights in the drawer, and tan my legs. You can guess what happened next. Tan went disastrously wrong - streaks everywhere, an odour of tortilla chips crossed with cooked rice … [Read more...]

Light Up Your Beauty Routine!

I don't know about you, but when I was a teenager I desperately wanted one of those dressing-room mirrors with the lights round them you see movie stars sitting in front of, or actors peering into, trying to remember their lines before going on stage. So, its no surprise that I am in love with the NEW CID iBlush (£24) which actually has lights on the compact - this gorgeous blusher/highlighter duo is the latest addition to the 'light-up' range … [Read more...]

Chanel Beauty Boutique opens in Glasgow

There's something a bit decadent about Chanel cosmetics, don't you think? I always feel great when I slick on a lipstick with the famous interlinked C's on the packaging, or use some of their excellent Precision skincare. And who doesn't love a skoosh of No.5? If it was good enough for Marilyn Monroe... So, how excited was I to hear about the brand new, all-singing, all-dancing Chanel Fragrance & Beauty Boutique just opened in Glasgow's … [Read more...]
