Gifts from Liberty!

Okay, today’s posts are both offering gifts – but at a price! However, for all you lovers of luxury skincare, I think you’ll like them! First up is Liberty – yes the fabulous London department store, but you don’t have to hotfoot it to the big Smoke, you can browse the beauty department online. Once you’ve had a good old browse and decided on what you might want to buy, if it adds up to £90 or more then you get this AMAZING free Liberty print … [Read more...]

Autumnal showers!

No, not of the rain variety - something much, much nicer! I've got my hands on the most fabulous shower gel of late, from The Body Shop. Back in 2010 they ran a global social media competition, encouraging the public to create their very own Limited Edition fragrance for the Originals Bath and Shower Gel range. The winner was Stephie, from California in the USA, with her Spiced Pumpkin Bath and Shower Gel (£4), inspired by her grandma's pumpkin … [Read more...]

Scottish Women Love a Brazilian!

5pm Health and Beauty celebrates its first birthday this week - Hooray! The lovely people at 5pm have been collating and counting all the treatments you booked over the last year and the results might surprise you! Brazilian hot wax anyone? Er, 'yes please' it seems is the most popular answer to that question, with this treatment coming second in the Top Five, behind a cut, style and finish/cut and blow dry. Scots women like to keep their … [Read more...]

Celebrity Beauty News!

I thought I'd bring you a few little snippets of celebrity beauty news in one round-up! * Kate Moss launches her Rimmel lipstick collection at a star-studded party in London tonight. Sadly our invite must have gone missing in the post... but we do know that the collection of seven lipsticks across the colour range is in Boots now, and will be available elsewhere from September 28. * Victoria Beckham scented her SS2012 Collection at New York … [Read more...]

Soothe your Skin – National Eczema Week

We're in the middle of National Eczema Week (Sep 10-18th) in case you didn't know, and I have been playing with a fantastic product which is brilliant if you suffer from skin allergies or conditions. I have mild dermatitis on my hands mainly, and years ago it was so bad, they were constantly cracked and sometimes bleeding. I used Sisley's Confort Extreme Hand Cream with Harpagophytum which miraculously cured them. I get the occasional little … [Read more...]

A Compact foundation…

I was out at an event with fellow beauty writers last night, and we were debating the merits of different types of foundations. Some of us loved the old 'Pan-stick' style, whilst others were fans of lighter liquids. I vary what I use, but I have always been a bit of a fan of compact foundations for the winter months when I like a little bit more coverage. In the last few weeks, I've been trying out the new Clarins Everlasting Compact Foundation … [Read more...]

Beauty Bargain of the Week – Simple

We can all spend a fortune on beauty products, but we don’t need to. Every week, I’m going to bring you my ‘Beauty Bargain of the Week‘  – a product I’ve used, and would recommend, and that, on most occasions, costs less than a fiver! What’s not to like!   So, Strictly Come Dancing starts in earnest this weekend, and I reckon Aussie actress/singer Holly Valance is one of my favourites - she's funny, pretty and I love that beer ad she's in … [Read more...]

Illamasqua’s Theatre…

Bobbi Brown, featured in today's previous post, is probably the antithesis to Illamasqua, whose Theatre of the Nameless Autumn collection hit the counters last week. With the crazy creative talents of makeup artist Alex Box behind it, Illamasqua is a brand, they say, for 'your alter ego'. Their campaign images are amazing  - not that I think I'd be venturing out with any of the looks of a weekend. But, the true beauty of the brand is that … [Read more...]

Bobbi’s Marrakesh…

Okay, two posts today on Autumn Winter collections - both hugely different! First up, it's Bobbi Brown's Marrakesh Chic Collection. Bobbi Brown is always a bit too subtle for me. She travelled to Morocco for a week-long bike tour a few years ago, and after stopping at a marketplace in Marrakesh, was inspired by jars filled with saturated pigments. mounds of fabric in the most vibrant hues and burlap sacks of Anise, cumin and turmeric spices, as … [Read more...]

Dior’s Fake Eyeliner!

Well, we're all about faking it today - first it was We Are Faux false lashes - now it's Dior's Velvet Eyes - adhesive eyeliner. Yes, you read that right, they're eyeliner shapes you can stick on! It's probably going to be hugely difficult for us to get our hands on them - they launched last night at the Vogue's Fashion Night Out and were available at the Dior counter in Selfridges in London. Now, they're available in the Dior boutique in New … [Read more...]
