Alcoholic Jellies - and some LOVEly 5pm deals for Valentine's Day
I love gummy bears – but now I love alcoholic gummies even more – thanks to Smith & Sinclair, who sent me a fab box of them to try.
Called The Party Selection, there’s Elderflower Spritz, Passion Fruit Mojito, Pineapple Bellini and Mandarin (Aperol-style) spritz. They’re all made with premium spirits, fresh fruit, herbs and syrups, mixed and coated with garnish infused sugars, and each holds a subtle kick at just 7% – about half a shot of alcohol. They’re vegan too, and £16 a box. The best Valentine or Galentine gift. They have personalised box covers too – Bae Mine, Love is Love, I’m Sweet On You and Bite Me.
I’ve been enjoying those whilst browsing some equally tasty 5pm Spa and Beauty offers and deals that you could give your other half (and you!) as a gift right up until the last minute, should you, er, forget! But you didn’t forget, right Did you…?
Okay, first up, how about a Rasul & Afternoon Tea at the DoubleTree by Hilton Glasgow Westerwood Spa and Golf Resort? This deal is £59 for two and includes a Rasul treatment – this is based on an ancient Arabian ritual and uses mineral-rich mud or algae gel to deep cleanse and invigorate the skin. This treatment takes place in sone of the spa’s private double treatment rooms. The mineral muds or gels are presented to smooth onto the body and face yourself before you sit within the enfolding warmth of the Rasul. Steam, infused with relaxing aromas, is then gently introduced to the private chamber to help soothe tense muscles and open the pores. Towards the end of the experience, the steam will disappear to be replaced by a cool shower, leaving your skin feeling deeply cleansed and beautifully soft when you emerge. There is no therapist in this treatment.
After the Rasul, it’s time for afternoon tea with a mocktail. You can also enjoy four hours in the spa swimming pool, sauna, Jacuzzi, steam room, experience shower, heated lounger, and relaxation chamber. Lovely. Weekend bookings are £10 per person extra.
How about a 60-minute Luxury Facial + Hand & Arm Massage? At Lulu’s Beauty in the centre of Glasgow, this all-inclusive facial followed by a massage is sure to leave you feeling properly pampered and full of love for the person who gifted you this. The facial includes a double cleanse, exfoliation, tone, moisturise and face massage, using Skin Truth professional products. You will feel radiant and glowing and properly relaxed. And it’s just £22.
Two can enjoy two treatments each at The Spa at the Shore in Balloch with this excellent deal. It’s £89 for two, and you choose between a facial, relaxing massage or Shellac fingers and toes. The Spa is a lovely place to unwind. They use award-winning Elemis spa products, and the treatment rooms are luxurious and perfect for relaxing treatments.

The Stirling Highland Hotel Spa Day is available to take seven days a week in T in April and May with a supplement of £15 per person from Friday to Sunday, payable directly to the spa. It includes two 25 minute treatments or one 55 minute treatment – choose from a selection including back massage, vitamin surge facial, deluxe manicure or pedicure, Decleor discovery facial and more. After that use the facilities – a 17-metre indoor heated swimming pool, a soothing spa pool, a sauna and a steam room. Net up, a two-course lunch from the lounge bar menu. All for £85 for two.
