Festive Scented Candles

4 min read

I LOVE a scented candle, and I love a FESTIVE scented candle even more! I was lucky enough to be gifted these candles for the purposes of this review, but I have spent over £40 on a scented candle because I do think in this instance that if you spend a wee bit more you get a much better pay-off.

Jo Loves candles are fantastic. They scent the room for hours, after being lit for a short time. The range of scents is fantastic, and I think Log Fires might be my favourite scent this season.

Here are a few of my favourite festive scented candles that would make brilliant gifts for candle lovers.

JO LOVES LOG FIRES HOME CANDLE, £55

This really does smell like log fires. If you don’t have a fireplace, buy this candle, and you instantly feel like you do! It’s a gorgeous warm scent with notes of smoky wood and Lapsang Souchong tea, creating a really wintry, sophisticated fragrance. The candle itself comes with a silver and glass lid to keep it dust-free, and the packaging is to die for. Each candle is hand-poured in England, and this sie will burn for approximately 37.5 hours.

JO LOVES CHRISTMAS TREES LIMITED EDITION HOME CANDLE, £55

The one I have is from last year – it’s been stored away, but it hasn’t lost its scent. This year’s offering doesn’t have the pattern in the glass, but the unmistakeable scent of Christmas trees is the same., Notes of fresh pine weave beautifully together with aromatic lavender, incense and amber to create this amazing festive fragrance. If you don’t have a real tree, you don’t need one if you have this candle!

JO MALONE LONDON ORANGE BITTERS TRAVEL CANDLE, £23

This is such a cute little travel candle, and the smell is delicious! There’s sweet orange, ripe mandarin, bitter orange and rich prune on a base of sensual sandalwood and amber. The best thing with a travel candle is you can take it wherever you go over the festive season and have your favourite scent with you. It comes in the dinkiest of boxes, in lovely packaging.

ARRAN WINTER FOREST CEDARWOOD SCENTED CANDLE, £30

This lovely candle was inspired by the snowcapped trees and expansive wilderness of the Isle of Arran. It combines a fresh green blend of sweet pine, with a base of cedarwood and clove, with a hint of spiced mandarin. It’s really lovely and comes in a gorgeous box, not pictured, and in a very tacticle glass jar. It has up to 35 hours of burning time.

GOUTAL PARIS UNE FORÊT D’OR CANDLE, £66, LIBERTY

This candle is from the fragrance house of former supermodel Annick Goutal. It’s ridiculously expensive, but trust me, it smells INCREDIBLE. When the postman handed me a pile of parcels with this candle in one of them, I honestly thought someone had sent me a pine wreath or something – it smells SO like a fresh fir tree, it’s ridiculous! It has a fresh scent of pine branches and orange rind, and it is absolutely wonderful. It’s also beautifully decorated on the glass, and the box it comes in.

PERSONALISED ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS CANDLES, £14, NORMA & DOROTHY

These candles are lovely. A really great, affordable, personalised gift. The Advent Calendar candle is a fabulous idea – it can be personalised, and you just mark off the days as they pass. The personalised gift – this one is to me from the cats (what?!) – is really fab, isn’t it? The scent is festive orange and cinnamon, and the candles are soy, hand-poured in Manchester, and have 25 hours burning time. They come in brown glass vintage apothecary-style jars, and I think any candle fan would be thrilled to find one of these under the tree this Christmas morning.
