Jo Malone London launch Poppy & Barley and new Glasgow boutique
This year’s big Jo Malone London launch comes a month earlier than normal – with Poppy & Barley hitting stores on August 21, instead of the usual mid-September.
And one of those stores you can pick it up in is the new Glasgow store. You can now find Jo Malone London on Buchanan Street, instead of Prince’s Square. The new store also has a whole host of exclusives for you to enjoy – and it’s a beautiful space.
The new store offers an Archive Collection, which includes Ginger Biscuit, Geranium & Verbena, Tudor Rose & Amber, Lavender & Coriander, and Leather & Artemisia – all of them are £94.
There is also a fab, fun, coloured cap service. You can choose a coloured cap instead of your regular cap, for £4. Choose from black, green, red, copper, or blossom pink. Finally, there’s the complimentary embossing service. This is offered with all purchases, and means you can personalise gifts with a name, a date, or a symbol, in black, gold or silver. A bespoke thistle symbol has also been produced exclusively for the Glasgow boutique.

The big scent launch for this year from JML is Poppy & Barley. Originally part of the English Fields collection, launched in March 2018, Poppy & Barley was the massive hit from the collection of four, so it made sense to bring it back as the year’s big launch.
It’s a lively floral, with notes of rose and violet and topped with juicy blackcurrants. There’s fig in there too, and bran absolute. I’m not a huge floral fan, but this is an easy scent, and will no doubt fly off the shelves once it’s launched.
“Poppy & Barley has an element of the unexpected and unusual – a contrast between the vibrant poppies and the nourishing grains, rounded by hints of violet and fig,” says Mathilde Bijaoui, Perfumer, Poppy & Barley. “It was an exciting creative challenge and new territory for me, creating this scent. Exploring the potential of the ingredients and their combination.”
Poppy & Barley will be available in 30ml, and 100ml Colognes, £48, and £98 respectively, and also in 250ml Body & Hand Wash. JML suggest Honeysuckle & Davana – last year’s big launch, or Myrrh & Tonka Cologne Intense, as the perfect blends for this one.
