Shower Time!
The washed-out June we have had has made me think I’m constantly in a shower! So, I decided to have a look at some of the best shower products out there and share them with you here!
I’m not averse to a bit of rain, but I prefer to get caught in my own shower, in my bathroom, of a morning, than in some of the torrential downpours we’ve been having this ‘summer’!
I love a bar of soap – Nesti Dante Tomato Soap is my absolute favourite, but I’ve tried a few different shower gels I was gifted recently for the purpose of this post -and I’ve also included a few that I would really like to try!
1.LE COUVENT DES MINIMES AMOREM CLEANSING BODY OIL, £16, LOOKFANTASTIC.COM
Le Couvent des Minimes is a really nice brand, and this lovely cleansing body oil with rose and calendula is perfect for sensitive skin. it’s not overly oily, but it does clean very deeply, and your skin will feel silky smooth after showering with it.
2. RADOX FIND YOUR SUNSHINE BRAZILIAN PASSION FRUIT AND JASMINE SHOWER MOUSSE, £2.99, SUPERDRUG
I love a shower mousse, mainly for the novelty factor, and it’s just as well this is only £2.99 because I could use the whole can in one go. It’s also excellent for shaving body hair in the shower. The scent is sweet, but it’s not too overpowering. In fact, I’d prefer if it was a little but more scented, if I am honest.
3. SHEA MOISTURE COCONUT & HIBISCUS ILLUMINATING BODY WASH, £11.99, BOOTS
This is intensely moisturising, and packed with natural ingredients, including shea butter, and, of course, it smells fruity and tropical. A wee bit pricey, but it is hydrating, and adds a bit of lovely illumination to the skin.
4. MOR PEONY BLOSSOM HAND AND BODY WASH, £20, FEELUNIQUE.COM
This one smells amazing, thanks to a bouquet of peony, orange, cherry blossoms, vanilla, strawberry and pineapple. It’s lovely, but I think I prefer this as a handwash than an all-over body wash.
5. ORIGINS GINGER BURST SAVOURY BODY WASH, £20
This is an Origins classic. I remember the ginger collection from my early days as a beauty journalist, almost 20 years ago! I don’t know why this is called ‘Savoury’ – that’s quite odd! But if you love ginger, you will love it. It lathers up beautifully, and smells delicious!
6. DOVE PURIFYING DETOX GREEN CLAY BODY WASH, £4, BOOTS.COM
This one is for the city dwellers, as it promises to lift dirt and toxins grom the daily environmental aggressors we encounter. It contains mineral-rich Green Clay and combines Dove’s quarter moisturiser skin nourishment with the clay, which is known for its purifying properties. There are no sulphates or SLES in this, and it has a pH neutral formula. It is a lovely shade of green and it cleanses well.
7. KORRES SANTORINI VINE SHOWER GEL, £8, BOOTS
Oh to be on Santorini right now! Or any Greek island – they are right up there on my ‘favourite holiday destination’ list! This lovely shower gel is the scent of blossoming Greek vineyards – what could be nicer?! It’s a creamy-foam shower gel, with wheat proteins and Althea extract, and it has 86.7 per cent natural content. I love using this in the morning – but getting out of the shower and ack to reality is a problem!
8. HEATH HAIR AND BODY WASH, £8, JOHN LEWIS
This is an energising, decongesting and cleansing wash for hair and body – great for gym bags. It is enriched with antioxidant power trio Caffeine, Ginseng and Green Tea, as well as Creatine and Sea Buckthorn Fruit Oil. It also has super-chic packaging.
9. CRYSTAL CLEAR QUARTZ SPA HAPPINESS BODY WASH, £27
This one is a real treat. A gorgeous aromatherapy blend of the pure zesty sunshine of Sweet Orange, Grapefruit and Lemon with the comforting, earthly tones of Geranium and Sandalwood. It is also packed with skin softening and smoothing ingredients of avocado, strawberry and grape seed oil. And, each body wash contains actual pieces of real quartz crystal, which is great for stimulating energy and rebalancing the body and mind.
10. RADOX 12HR SCENT TOUCH FEEL POSITIVE HONEYDEW MELON & PAPAYA BODY WASH, £2.50, TESCO
Radox has adapted technology from laundry products in this, to create a scent that lasts. Smell is so important as a sense – and a fresh bright smell in a shower gel can kickstart your day! This one is strong, if not a little synthetic, but it lasts!
