Rose Beauty

The other week I wrote about the new Jo Loves Rose Petal fragrance, and it got me thinking about how much I love rose. So I thought I’d have a little call-put for some other rose scented/coloured/themed/inspired beauty products, and share what I found.

Apparently, Holly Willoughby likes the Korres Wild Rose Advanced Brightening Bi-Phase Booster Serum (£46, lookfantastic.com) – a powerful serum which helps to reduce the appearance of dark spots, dullness and skin discolourations for luminous skin. It contains 10 per cent wild rose oil.

Also in this range is the lovely Wild Rose Makeup Melter Cleansing Oil (£26, lookfantastic.com) which is infused with real rose petals, and also contains vitamin C, and almond, jojoba, and rice bran oils to nourish and hydrate the complexion. It is a lovely cleanser, but best to avoid the eye area.

Angela Langford’s Sweet Cheeks Balancing and Cleansing Face Wash (£18, angelalangford.com) contains papaya, cypress and rose, and has a properly organic scent. It’s not overly rose-scented, but you know it is in there. This doesn’t foam, you just use it to cleanse the skin, and rinse off with warm water. It’s lovely first thing in the shower. It’s probably best for oily, combination skins prone to congestions, which mine is not, but it’s really mild, and I enjoyed using it. The rose it in it calming and cleansing and helps rid the skin of impurities. This product is made in Great Britain and is 99 per cent natural. I’ve blogged about Angela and her products before – you should really check them out, they are lovely.

Korres makes some of the loveliest shower products around, and the Japanese Rose Shower Gel (£8, Boots) is one of my favourites. The scent is subtle, it contains 87.5 per cent natural content.

missguided’s Unicorn Dreams Body Mist (£10) is not a sophisticated scent, let’s be honest. But it does have rose in there, along with coconut, lily of the valley, amber, sandalwood and vanilla. It is very sweet. Much like you would imagine unicorns to smell like. Perfect for the tweenies in your life!

Guerlain’s Mon Guerlain Bloom of Rose EDT (from £49 for 30ml) is a gorgeous rose version of the original scent. The initial structure of Mon Guerlain remains unchanged, still featuring the quartet of Carla lavender, Sambac jasmine, vanilla and Australian sandalwood. In this scent, it is joined by neroli and Bulgarian rose.

DKNY Stories EDT (from £51 for 100ml) is a blend of pink guava mousse, rose and musk notes – a very light, youthful, feminine scent. There is a lot going on in this scent! Top notes of pink pepper, mandarin, lemon, bergamot, pink guava mousse, and peach juice. At the heart – the rose – rose de Mai, rose, pink iris, sheer white jasmine sambac, and ylang-ylang, and at the base vanilla bean, clean white woods, pink suede, creamy musk, amber crystals, and cedarwood atlas Morocco. Phew! It launches in July.

SVR Densitium Rose Cream (£36, lookfantastic.com) targets flexibility, firmness, density, hydration, maintenance and radiance. Silky, non-sticky and pleasantly scented with lovely rose, this cream contains hyaluronic acid, bio-calcium for firmness, majestem for firming, and prodizia to help stop the yellowing of the complexion that can happen as we age.

Roses come in all colours, but to me, they always seem pink! And rose is pink, as a shade. If you want rose pink nails, then Dr’s Remedy Enriched Nail Polish in Resilient Rose is a perfect shade. And it’s all filled with goodies and won’t harm your nails. £11.95, feetlife.co.uk

Rituals The Ritual of Ayurveda contains Indian Rose and is perfect for boosting the mood and evoking positive feelings. I like the sound of that. There are lots of products in the range, including candles, body mist, foaming shower gel, and body cream. Prices from £8.50, available at Johnlewis.com

Finally, LUSH Rose Jam fragrance (£25) is a rich floral scent, and it comes in a bonkers bottle. Blooms of fresh rose and succulent geranium combine. Rose oil from petals picked in Senir, Turkey, blend with lemon, and this scent is brilliant on the skin or in the home.

The fragrance also comes in this cute Bubbleroon (£4.95) – it has a double dose of rose thanks to rose oil and rose absolute, and Fair Trade cocoa and shea butter leave you feeling gorgeous.
