On-Trend Beauty with 5pm Deals

4 min read

There is always a new trend in the beauty world. From treatments, to products, to hair colours, and nail techniques, it’s hard to keep up with the latest must-have looks and beauty styles.

In terms of ingredients, the latest to hit the top of the on-trend list is Cica, or Tiger Grass, or Centella Asiatica. Grown on the island of Madagascar, it’s a medicinal herb, and is called Tiger Grass because Tigers apparently love to roll in it to heal wounds.

For humans, and in beauty products, it has moisturising, skin-soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, and you can find it in the new YourGoodSkin Cica Repair Sleep Paste (£12, Boots), which is a unique hybrid between a face mask and a skin treatment. The Cica soothes, rebalances and restores. Other ingredients include Green Tea, an anti-oxidant, and Vitamin C, a brightener.

So, what on-trend things should you be looking out for at the salon? Let’s have a look and see what 5pm deals we can find at the same time!

VEGAN BEAUTY

All things vegan are on-trend, and that includes beauty products. And this is a good thing. If you are vegan, it’s important to know that you can still get the beauty treatments you want.

At TLC Nails + Beauty in Glasgow’s south side, there are lots of vegan versions of beauty treatments available. The Skinsational Facial & Massage is a relaxing, de-stressing back, neck and shoulder massage and nourishing and brightening facial, which is vegan-friendly and cruelty-free, and it’s £20. They also offer an upgrade on their Bronzed and Polished Package to vegan-friendly, just ask when you are in the salon.

CURLY HAIR

There are no deals on 5pm for perms yet – but watch this space. Thanks to Stranger Things creating a love of all things 80s, curls are back! If you don’t want to commit to a perm, then try it out with this deal at POMO in Glasgow’s West End – £14 for GHD or wand curls.  Once you’ve seen how amazing the curls look, you might want to try them out for real and book in for that perm!

GLOWING SKIN

It’s the buzzword isn’t it – glowing. Everyone wants that youthful glow, that radiant and luminous skin. The Spa at Charlotte Square at the Kimpton Hotel in Edinburgh has a Midweek spa treat package that gives you the option to choose an  Oskia Glow facial. It’s £89, you can take it from Monday to Thursday, and you also get a two-course lunch in the garden bar, and robe, towel and slippers are provided, as well as full use of the facilities.

The Oskia Glow facial lasts for 55 minutes and is a combination of anti-ageing and glow-inducing techniques to illuminate the skin and leave face, body and mind feeling rejuvenated and skin brighter, hydrated and toned. A relaxing scalp massage, steam and extraction also included.

HD BROWS

Big, bold brows are here to stay. The best way to achieve them is at a salon, with HD Brows. There are quite a lot of HD Brow offers on 5pm, so have a good search. At California Beauty in Glasgow’s Gordon Street, they’re just £15 from Monday to Friday – all seven steps of them!

HOLISTIC

At Beauty and Holistics @ Rebel Rouge in Glasgow’s West End, you can get your holistic fill. It’s all about alternative treatments right now, agreed? So, book in for some Reiki. An hour is £30, Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Reiki is well known as life force energy, and is a natural, non-invasive form of healing treatment and is so relaxing. It encourages the body and mind to heal itself naturally, bringing mind, body and spirit into balance. Reiki is a hands-off treatment, and can feel a bit bizarre at first, but it’s worth it.
