Madonna - Red Lipstick Queen!
Happy Birthday Madonna, 60 today!!
If there is one thing I associate with Madonna more than anything, it’s red lipstick. She was my red lip inspiration. She was the one who got me into it, aged 14, when I used to sneak it on at school, and remove it later.
I’ve worn hundreds of red lipsticks over the last 30+ years. I even wrote a Red Lipstick of the Week feature on my Beauty Bombshells blog for a while – go check them out.
My first red was Barry M 121 – and I still love it. My Dad bought me Paloma Picasso Mon Rouge red when I was a teenager, and I still have it – it’s a bit done, but I’m not throwing it away!
I wore Tom Ford’s Narcotic Rouge on my wedding day. I am not a massive fan of MAC Ruby Woo, but it’s a classic. My most recent fave was Smashbox Always On Liquid Lipstick in Bang Bang which has just been discontinued – why do they do this?! As a beauty writer for the last 15 years or so I have had the privilege of being sent loads of lovely red lipsticks – many of which I have never used, just kept for who knows what, and who knows why!
Today I am wearing Fenty Beauty Stunna Matte Liquid Lip in Uncensored. I’m only leaving my desk to get the washing in, but, hey, I bet Madonna didn’t slack when it came to red lipstick, right?
