Matte lipsticks. There’s no letting up to this trend. Now Clarins has launched a matte version of Joli Rouge to add to your choices. Joli Rouge Velvet is a reinterpretation of the brand’s iconic Joli Rouge, in a new matte version.
The idea here is that it gives a matte finish, but still retains all the nourishment and hydration the other formulas give. It’s enriched with organic marsh samphire and organic apricot oil. So, you get the matte velvet look, with little dryness.
Matte lipsticks are drying, and despite ALL the hundreds of new launches, it does seem pretty impossible to create one that is matte enough, and not drying. I tend to find if a lipstick isn’t a wee bit drying, it’s not matte enough for me.
Clarins isn’t as matte as some of the more fashion-forward brands, but that’s to be expected. The luminous matte finish has a Velvet Booster + Complex in it – that’s the marsh samphire and apricot oil – and you’ll get, say Clarins, four hours of wear.
There are 20 shades – and all 20 shades are now available across all three Clarins textures – matte, satin and shine. They are in families – Nude/Brown, Rose, Red/Orange and Plum.
Nude/Brown shades are Sandy Pink, Woodberry, Roseberry, Rosewood, Nude Brick, Spicy Cinammon
Red/Orange shades are Papaya, Spicy Chilli, Red Orange, Joli Rouge Red, Guava, Deep Red
Rose shades are Soft Berry, Grenadine, Litchi, Raspberry, Hot Pink, Pink Cranberry
Plum shades are Plum, Royal Plum
